@SimonBrundish Jason Robinson springs to mind for me. Really interesting question-there’s some freakish running backs in the NFL and rugby wingers but they don’t have to be able to run circa 40k per week so have the upper hand in strength training level/training age compared to footballers.

In 27 years I’m yet to see a player, in any sport, able to accelerate to 10m as quickly when their task will be to stop or change direction within 5m, as they can when they have 30m in a straight line ahead of them We are in a world of coaching speed. Speed coaches everywhere Yet I don’t see players able to brake from their current maximum acceleration speeds So why make them faster in a straight line????
