In 2022, Mexico welcomed 66 million international tourists, representing 8.3% of Mexico’s GDP. Cancun alone attracted 8.56 million of them. It is estimated that Mexico's tourism sector will generate over $31 billion in 2023, and Cancun is expected to take a big part of it.

Cancun’s thriving economy followed the speed at which the city was growing, attracting millions of dollars in foreign investment each year. Its tropical climate with white sand beaches, turquoise waters, coral reefs, and the nearby Mayan sites attracts millions of tourists.

Cancun is an iconic tourist destination that attracted more than 8.5 million tourists last year, but did you know that the city was built less than 50 years ago? It was constructed in 1974 as Mexico’s bet on creating a “tourist city” for its paradisiac beaches and Mayan sites.
