Oregon’s assisted suicide numbers continue to rise. In 2025, 637 lethal prescriptions were written under the Death with Dignity Act, with 400 reported deaths after ingestion. Assisted suicide continues to account for about one in every 100 Oregon deaths. “Prescriptions of death-inducing drugs are tragically on the rise,” Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Lois Anderson said. “Last year – instead of being cared for and supported, assured that their lives have inherent value and meaning – 637 vulnerable people were prescribed drugs intended to cause their deaths.” “This is heartbreaking and wrong," she said. "Our elderly, disabled, and medically complex deserve real dignity and compassion, which is shown through love, care, and life-affirming support. Legal assisted suicide sends the opposite message: That Oregon believes some lives are simply less worth living.” 🔗 Read more: ortl.org/lethal-drug-pr… 👉 Don't miss an article: Sign up for updates at ortl.org/sign-up #OregonRightToLife #DeathWithDignity #AssistedSuicide #EndOfLifeCare #RightToLife #LifeAffirming #ElderCare #DisabilityRights #CompassionateCare #MedicalEthics

On Tuesday, Oregon Right to Life won a huge victory in Oregon’s federal district court. The court ruled in favor of ORTL in its lawsuit against Oregon's 2017 "Reproductive Health Equity Act" (RHEA) requiring employers, including ORTL, to pay for abortion coverage in employee health insurance plans. Even though Oregon provided both secular exceptions and exceptions for other religious organizations that met the state’s narrow definition of a “religious employer,” it had refused to exempt ORTL, despite ORTL’s religious objection. By exempting favored entities while requiring ORTL to purchase employee insurance plans that cover abortion, the RHEA plainly violated ORTL’s religious liberty. ORTL argued that the First Amendment required the court to find the RHEA unconstitutional. Yesterday, the court agreed. 👉 Read the press release here: ow.ly/g7yW50YK7Tw #OregonRightToLife #ProLifeVictory #ReligiousFreedom #FirstAmendment #ProLifeOregon #LifeWins #ReligiousLiberty #OregonLaw #RightToLife #ProLifeMovement

At around 6 weeks of pregnancy, something incredible happens: Cardiac activity begins. Coordinated electrical impulses cause the embryo's tiny heart tube to rhythmically contract, pumping blood throughout her developing body. Though she's only the size of a sweet pea, the embryo now has something she shares with all adults: A heartbeat. From the earliest stages, an embryo is a human being... not a mere "clump of cells." #PregnancyJourney #Heartbeat #6WeeksPregnant #EmbryoDevelopment #RightToLife #PregnancyAwareness #LifeBeginsAtConception #ProLife #PregnancySupport #OregonRightToLife

Not everyone starts in the same place—and that’s okay! Changing hearts takes listening, finding common ground, and asking thoughtful questions. Start with what you can agree on. Make it clear you've truly thought through your position, and that you're not simply taking an ideological stand. Then, gently introduce the realities many people simply haven’t heard or fully understood. That's how we can change hearts, one conversation at a time. #EffectiveCommunication #ActiveListening #BuildTrust #CommonGround #ThoughtfulQuestions #OpenConversations #ChangeMinds #EmpathyInAction #ImpactfulDialogue #RespectfulDiscussion

Kirk Cameron made his acting debut on the hit TV series Growing Pains in the 1980s, going on to act in and produce numerous family and faith-related films including Fireproof (2008), Extraordinary (2017), and Lifemark (2022). Today, in addition to his film career, he’s a well-known podcaster and author who recently launched a publishing company and a streaming platform for children’s content. As a Christian husband and father of six (including four adopted children) Kirk Cameron is also an outspoken pro-life advocate. “This issue of life is very personal for me,” Cameron said during a speech at the 2022 March for Life. “My wife is an adopted child. Chelsea was one doctor appointment away from not existing. Our first four children are also adopted. They were this close to not being here, and if my wife Chelsea had not been born our two natural born children would not exist either.” He praised those participating in the March for being “loving, compassionate, and courageous” people standing up for the most vulnerable. Kirk Cameron's bold advocacy on behalf of moms, families, and the unborn is a powerful encouragement to all pro-life advocates. #KirkCameron #GrowingPains #FaithFilms #ProLifeAdvocate #FamilyValues #ChristianFamily #MarchForLife #FaithAndFamily

Pro-abortion Oregon lawmakers on Friday passed House Bill 4127 to require the Oregon Health Authority to adopt a mechanism to fund the state’s Planned Parenthood facilities on an ongoing basis using Oregonians’ tax dollars. Democrats in the Oregon Senate approved HB 4127 on March 6 following a vote by House Democrats to advance the bill the day before. All Republicans in both chambers voted against the measure, expressing strong opposition. As written, HB 4127 will require the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to “adopt a payment mechanism” to fund Planned Parenthood facilities using state tax dollars as an effort to backfill some of the federal defunding of Planned Parenthood under the 2025 “One Big Beautiful Bill.” The bill would also establish a grant program to buoy Oregon’s Planned Parenthood facilities “if a state or federal law is enacted that prohibits… [Planned Parenthood] from enrolling in the state medical assistance program.” “Pro-life or pro-choice, I would hope we could all agree that we want to see fewer abortions in Oregon, not more,” Oregon Right to Life Political Director Sharolyn Smith said. “An expansion in funding to Planned Parenthood would do the opposite.” 🔗 Click here to read the full press release: ortl.org/oregon-legisla…

Oregon’s pro-abortion Democratic supermajority on Thursday passed HB 4088, a highly controversial bill that has sparked serious concerns due to its potential to jeopardize victims of coercion and abuse in abortion or gender-related cases. As written, HB 4088 will strengthen legal protections for providers of abortions and gender treatments and expand protections to anyone assisting others in receiving such services. Oregon Right to Life and numerous other organizations have raised strong objections to the bill, arguing it could unduly complicate the prosecution of bad actors, including abusers and traffickers. During a floor session in the Oregon Senate on Thursday, all 18 Democratic Senators voted to approve HB 4088. All 12 Republican Senators voted against the measure. The vote came after the bill previously advanced through the House with a 34–22 vote, again with all Democrats voting in favor and all Republicans opposing the bill. Last month, Democrats rejected three proposed amendments aimed at ensuring that the bill would not place minors and victims of crimes like abuse, coercion, or trafficking, at greater risk. “I am deeply disappointed that Oregon’s legislature has once again chosen to put the interests of the abortion lobby above the safety of women and children, including those who may be victims of abuse,” Oregon Right to Life executive director Lois Anderson said. “Coercion and trafficking in cases of abortion clearly happen, as we all saw in the devastating 2023 case of a 15-year-old Idaho girl allegedly brought across state lines by her 18-year-old boyfriend and his mother for an abortion in Bend. These abuses can be far too easy to ignore or overlook, especially when the legal emphasis is placed on shielding those who perform or assist others in obtaining abortions, rather than protecting the most vulnerable.” 🔗 Click to read the full press release: ortl.org/oregon-legisla…

Oregon's short legislative session is wrapping up. Throughout this rapid 35-day session, we’ve been busy at the Capitol making sure the most vulnerable have a voice... even as the pro-abortion supermajority pushes through legislation that will further jeopardize them. This week, we've seen some tragic developments. Pro-abortion lawmakers worked to ram through HB 4127, a bill to siphon over $25 million of Oregonians' hard-earned tax dollars to fund Planned Parenthood. The pro-abortion supermajority is also poised to pass HB 4088, which would solidify legal safeguards for providers of abortion and controversial gender services and extend those protections to people who assist others in obtaining those procedures. We have serious concerns about this bill's real-world impacts of inadvertently empowering bad actors like traffickers and abusers. It's been a tough session. But at Oregon Right to Life, we're very proud of the strong and vocal opposition of pro-life Oregon lawmakers and the many pro-life advocates who submitted written testimony, wrote emails to their representatives, and showed up in person to the Capitol. A pro-life presence makes a difference, and we're committed to continuing to stand up for the right to life of every innocent human being. #OregonRightToLife #ProLife #RightToLife #OregonLegislature #LifeMatters #ProtectTheUnborn #ProLifeAdvocacy #OregonPolitics #LifeCommitment #DefendLife
