@Smadan3k @VoyceReason Lol, your data only shows new list asking prices. Not what people are ACTUALLY paying. YoY people are PAYING more. In competitive areas like downtown city core, it is common practically to have a listing get a tenant willing to pay more than asking, especially near colleges.

@Smadan3k @VoyceReason Rent has gone up nationally by 5.1% last year. Up 33% in the last 5 years, up 57% in the last 10 years. Housing is the same as it was 5 years ago. There was a peak in 2022; it is down from the peak. Prices are over 50% higher than they were in 2016.

@VoyceReason I am a single voice from the echo of 71% of the pop. who says cost of living has worsen. The paper gains are real but tiny, uneven, and swamped by costs that CPI understates. Take-home pay buys less where it matters most: housing, groceries, and debt. That is the reality.

@gilmcgowan I find it more shocking that more than half of Canada essentially thinks their lives would be better off somewhere else. I can't imagine satisfaction being less than 70% 10 years ago.

Polls show that, on average, we Albertans are less satisfied with our lives than other Canadians. I’m going to suggest that this is what happens when politicians relentlessly push the narrative that we’re victims, not masters of our own destiny.
