I find it strange to our known laid down procedures for creating a new District. This unpalatable and provoking proposal begs for a District resolution and the Minister of Local Government attaches to motion for Parliament to process it, otherwise its a joke
Parliament Watch@pwatchug

Hon. Nyakecho has moved to present an amendment to the motion to allow for alteration of boundaries of Tororo District to create two new districts of West Budama County and Tororo County. She says that this will see Nagongera elected to a Municipality #PlenaryUg

Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa has ridiculed some members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) who have questioned his loyalty given his initial alliance with the opposition, saying he has been in NRM for 15years, saying he is no longer a mugole, unless if they want him to divorce the Party, as proof of his longevity. He made the remarks during a media interview, after reconciliatory meeting he held at his home in Kampala, with the top leaders of Mubende district, following the disharmony that ensued during the general elections. The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Marksons @ObothOboth, has called on religious leaders to safeguard Uganda’s long-standing freedom of worship and promote tolerance. Speaking at a three-day symposium for over 90 religious leaders in Kigezi—held under the theme “The interface between religious leaders in strengthening national security”—he praised Uganda’s peaceful coexistence among different faiths, attributing it to President Museveni’s leadership and constitutional protections. Oboth encouraged mutual respect across religious communities, noting that greetings such as Salaam Alaikum or Shalom should be seen as expressions of peace rather than religious allegiance. He emphasised the influential role of religious leaders in shaping values, resolving conflicts, and strengthening unity. Minister of State for Trade, Hon. David Bahati, also reminded leaders of President Museveni’s consistent support for freedom of worship and urged them to use inter-religious platforms to encourage peace and wealth creation. @MODVA_UPDF @cdfupdf
