If people understood these 4 simple truths; that #LongCovid: 🔴 Can completely destroy your health 🔴 Can limit your ability to work AND There are: 🔴 No known diagnostic tests 🔴 No known treatments Then maybe folk would be more inclined to protect themselves. 🎲~1 in 10. 1/

"[The main symptoms of the new Omicron strain EG.5.1] are a sore throat, a runny nose, a blocked nose, sneezing, a cough without phlegm, a headache, a cough with phlegm, a hoarse voice, muscle aches and pains and an altered sense of smell.. However, shortness of breath, a loss of smell and a fever are no longer the main symptoms." Fever is no longer the main symptom.. mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/t…

@luvenice_h Yes we agree. Massive wave surging now, everyone should already be boosted again. We had hoped the autumn boosters would be the newer generation more variant specific too.

Very pleased to see the national calls for treatments like #Evusheld finally gaining traction. Our Clinically Vulnerable members deserve reliable protection and a return to normality too. Obtaining clinical consensus on these treatments is an important first step.

We are all fed up with Covid, but it’s here, and to protect ourselves and our families we need to face it. And it actually requires minimal effort to reduce the risks. Let’s start with what to do if you get Covid… 🧵 1/20

These are the questions we keep finding ourselves asking and yey government is burying its head in the sand about it all. Have a read of Ali’s thread.

1/ A few questions for @UKHSA & @sajidjavid WHAT IF patients w/ #monkeypox present to A+E w/ atypical symptoms, oblivious to the fact that they may have a HCID? WHAT IF patients w/ #monkeypox sit in busy waiting rooms surrounded by other patients without a mask for several hrs?

Confirmation of vaccination groups 1-6 minimum for autumn booster and up to groups 1-9. Good news for CEV, CV, unpaid carers and over 65’s. And perhaps up to groups 1-9 (over 50’s). england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp…

We should be told whether we are expecting to be offered covid booster jabs this autumn as soon as possible. The reasoning and modelling behind the decision should also be made available to everyone can scrutinise it. That would be good scientific practice.

Latest ONS survey estimates that 1.7m people in the UK had coronavirus in week ending 18th June. That’s up 23% on the previous week. About 1 in 35 infected overall but that’s still less than half the level at the peak in January and not impacting much on intensive care

Hearing lots of "Well deaths are still low" takes about this latest wave. Firstly, deaths are a lagged indicator so we wouldn't expect them to rise at exactly the same time as cases. Secondly, death is by no means the only poor outcome associated with covid.
