How are you doing? 💙 This #StressAwarenessMonth and beyond, remember to check in with yourself and others. It's okay to feel difficult emotions like stress. Focus on what's in your control and practice healthy coping techniques. You got this! 👏

There is progress, but the crisis is not over. Recent data shows overdose deaths in the U.S. are declining after years of increase, with some reports indicating a significant drop in recent years. This is an encouraging sign that prevention efforts are making an impact. However, fentanyl and synthetic opioids continue to drive the majority of overdose deaths, and thousands of lives are still lost each year. One pill can still take a life. Prevention is working. But we are not done. Having DID is, for many people, a very lonely thing. Clinicians, and all others whose lives are touched by DID, need to grasp the fundamentally illusive nature of memory, because memory, or the lack of it, is an integral component of this condition.

Addiction: A Disease Both Like and Unlike Many Others buff.ly/dpbktV5 Addiction shares characteristics of other diseases, but its social consequences are unique. Attempts to normalize addiction by comparing it to other diseases have backfired, increasing stigma. Public health messaging that downplays effects of addiction on other people erodes public trust. Reducing stigma requires us to humanize addiction through candid self-disclosure.

People think 7-Hydroxymitragynine or 7-OH is safe because it is marketed as a Kratom supplement but it has a high risk of addiction and intense withdrawal symptoms. ororecovery.com/7-oh/
