The Policing and Community Safety Authority was established last April, bringing together the former Policing Authority and Garda Inspectorate into one unified body, with an additional function of Community Safety. The PCSA is meeting senior officers of An Garda Síochána this afternoon for an Authority meeting in private. The agenda for the meeting includes the introduction of tasers for frontline gardaí, as well as conduct and discipline, female personnel experiences, and the protocol for murder and rape investigations where parties are children.

An assessment of An Garda Síochána’s policing performance throughout the first half of 2025 has found that 7 of 18 targets are reported as ‘on target’ with the remaining 11 ‘at risk’. Here, PCSA Chief Executive Helen Hall highlights the key findings.
