@Sierkovitz Any thought on the Signpost Uncommon vs average deck performance of the color pair? I noticed that Shroudstomper and Rite of the Moth are both better than the average WB deck, which makes me wonder about their strength. But uncommons should compete with other uncommons so idk.

Finally - UB, WB and UR. A solid chunk behind. My guess is they will do better in time, bun we need to improve builds and lower expectations on how often do those decks come together. You definitely can't force those. At least not yet. 7/7

Day 2 of the data is the most game-changing. @17lands almost quadrupled no. of logged games compared to yesterday and that means all the commons and uncommons have their GiH WR calculated. So let's look at the signpost uncommon performance. There are 2 per color pair. 1/7

First draft first 🏆. Uncommon Haste 4/4 Making a 1/1 on every attack is great for Sac theme, and the 1BR Uncommon having its EOT stack was great. Fear of Burning won me multiple games despite its high cost/ my trouble with Delirium.

@BreakfastMTG For sure the lifelink is real - I won a match at my LGS by saving a creature with it, then using my fight spell postcombat to gain like 12 life total (and I needed it against the U flying vigilance ward creature they had)

@PackageRyan I do like Veil more, but Take Up the Shield is so good in racing situations and combat, so I still like the upside it gives you.

Classic GW (play a bomb and protect it) deck. Would have liked another removal spell, but still good. 7-2 🧙‍♂️🍳🏆

@TheVentrua @TitanLFG Bring back the PoBCast (If it works with metrics! Hearing you Waggle ben Rue etc chat about patch notes and builds helps a lot - I learned about the crazy Elementalist Exposure + Eye of Malice buffs in Sanctum league from you all)

Barely didn't get to the big 1mil but still a huge success considering I basically didn't have a youtube channel a month ago and huge motivation for future leaguestarts and PoE 2. Couldn't do it without my editor @TitanLFG and the loud cat that made the CoC DD

@Sierkovitz Does this help disprove that longer games = more decisions = more player edge? I see you are posting that that there are other stat effects here. (Personally I'm happy if I also win more in short games so I don't time out)

Long games outcome looks like a coin flip. It is in the short games that 17L users have any win rate advantage. And yes, part of that would be that you will get into the long game against a good player, weaker player would have likely lost already due to some misplay. 10/11

One of the prevalent myths I see circulating in Magic community is that BO1 limited games are faster than BO3. This is simply not true but why is it not true is a slightly longer story. Let's dig into the format speed a bit before the inevitable OTJ speed discussion starts. 1/11

@Sierkovitz I was expecting Median / whatever other stat shows this better as the follow up haha, but your explanation is good.

Imagine you have some numbers - 1s, 2s, 3s and among them - one 10. That 10 will have a disportional impact on the average of your number. And if you triple the amount of 10s? That's what's happening here too. 20 turns is just a lot more than the average game duration. 8/11

@DraftChaffPod It's quite difficult to make paper changes without sorting/laying out the entire thing (at least for me 😅)

@Sierkovitz I know you check macro deck drafting trends for Bo1 vs Bo3 on Arena but I'd be interested to see how it differs for MTGO pods as well. Unfortunately I might be team "Non-pod play ruins draft replayability" (despite having speed-to-fire advantages)

🏆 #4: 7-1 The ease it trophied is worrying in terms of the health of the format. Green and white are still too open and players need to adjust. Otherwise I'm just forcing this till cows come home. Deck was mid in terms of creatures but the interaction was premium.

@rcsaxe Funny that you picked the deck that also gets insanely better with bombs! But even the uncommons are gas I agree. To your other point, I had Hostile Investigator + Lively Dirge in prerelease and it was backbreaking to tutor my 3-for-1 every game

I am *sold* on GB. This deck is the first great deck I've had in the format that has felt like a true synergy deck with zero dependence on rares.

@TaJoordan Maybe I did, clicked a few replies and thought it said "Five sets you give FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS" haha. I always opened the Dream Trawlers in THB so I didn't mind it 🤣

@PackageRyan oh I might’ve misunderstood the prompt— I think Apocalypse is a 5 out of 5 stars set and LCI is a 1 out of 5 stars set. I didn’t really enjoy THB but don’t remember it that well either

@aronfreyr1213 @fakejakebrowne This is the normal not-hot-take I agree with. Stay fueled up and drink water, but not enough to get drowsy (which for me is like 1/3 of a small protein bar between rounds, starting at round 3 or something )

@fakejakebrowne I definitely play better when I'm hungry/not full, but I'm not crazy so I have the occasional light snack and usually have a decent breakfast before tournaments

@TaJoordan Times like this make me happy Arena Open has a chess clock even for Bo1 haha. The over half an hour Bo1 games break my brain sometimes.

I lost this game but I really like the block line I took. Knowing my opponent has Ride Down trick in hand, I block "wrong" to leave their creature at 1 off lethal so I can Neutralize the Guards postcombat, and it worked !

@Sierkovitz I guess how many Removal + Value cards they have is interesting, because say Lassoed by the Law gives them an extra token which then will drain you

@Sierkovitz Result is you're going to be up cards and on life total on an empty board which is like what 70% to win? I love going aggro and pushing tempo but cards here seems good given your analysis on their deck.

Curious of your opinions. Would you sacrifice the 4/4 that saddled Gitrog here to draw 4 cards? Or keep it alive and hope opponent ran out of removal? Opponent has a grindy removal.dec GY and decklist added for context so you can see what my potential draws are.

@Nicole_Dubin Like 4 good cards here ranging from power to colors/outlaws to fit and are pretty close. Interesting spot!
