He can certainly voice his opinion on global warming or other societal issues but I’m neither expecting it from a hockey player or demanding it.

@1martman @brockscrocs @RussoHockey @WildGuyFan Foligno probably has a greater influence than your mailman. I think the execution of an American citizen is important enough that all of us need to decry it, and those with influence have the greatest opportunity to inspire change.

@brockscrocs @PaperlessClog @RussoHockey @WildGuyFan I guess that’s one way to look at it. The thing is, I look at it like I care as much about a goalies views on social issues as I do my mailman’s. To me the goalies views aren’t more ‘important’ in persuading my beliefs than my mailman’s. But you do you.

@PaperlessClog @RussoHockey @WildGuyFan He’s a popular sports figure. If you’re looking for inspiration (or aggravation) regarding societal issues from a left wing on a hockey team you might need to instead look to politicians, chiefs of police, or the ACLU for those things.

@PaperlessClog @RussoHockey @WildGuyFan Also, you clearly don’t know how this all works. I don’t blame you. If a player wants to volunteer his or her take on social issues to a reporter that’s great. If they don’t, and the reporter pushes it, they’ll never be allowed to ask a single question again.
