Iranian Shiite culture ain't Western, ain't Judeo-Christian, ain't what we recognize, especially when radicalized to 11. This adds color to this dumb bravado and Trump's apparent lack of concern about it.

🚨Vance attacks Israel in an interview with the New York Times: There is a strange panic within the Israeli establishment, which I sense, where it is assumed that anything considered and potentially beneficial to Iran will indeed happen — but that it will happen without the Iranians changing any behavior on their part. Therefore, I find this whole wave of hysteria in Israel somewhat strange, because in my opinion, it stems from a lack of trust. The US has rightfully earned the trust of this region. We have done a very good job for that "particular country" and its government, and I believe the facts do not support the claim that we made a bad deal, which does not make sense when considering the depth and duration of the parties' relations.

@Osint613 Was the final agreement signed or just the MOU with 60 days to gather intelligence on the ground, rearm and acquire targets. Meanwhile shipping goes thru and oil comes down. We know the IRGC is going to mess this up.

🚨 WTF?! President Trump reveals the woman who walked by the White House and sued him to block the ballroom national security project is also involved in OTHER litigation around DC Throw the case out! “She is highly litigious, a serial plaintiff, and said she was bothered in her walking by the White House, but didn't state her involvement in numerous places around D.C. Why then is she involved in litigation on other Developments in far distant parts of D.C. Is she walking there, too? How is she walking on a totally closed street at the Treasury Building — Nobody is allowed to walk there? She never saw a Building, because there is no Building there.“

@shipwreckedcrew Agreed. And I think that while Trump gets annoyed with Bibi, much of this is performative to suggest there is a major rift.

The munitions issue was a problem because not just Israel -- but all Gulf allies are in need of more and there just aren't more to give them. So getting Iran to stop shooting them at allies was important. Right now there is no effective counter-battery fire, so at more robust response needs to be developed.
TeakWoodKite@KiteTeak

@shipwreckedcrew He also invoked the defense industrial act on the 11th so there is a deep need for munitions. The complete reversal and his treatment of Israel is an unforced error. JD Vance sucks at gaslighting too and doing so will cost him the presidency. he is already "getting blamed"

This. Assume that many inside the Administration, including President Trump, settled on this course weeks ago. Keeping the Senate and (against all odds) the House in GOP hands isn’t just a political goal for Republicans, it’s critical to the national security. The Democrats are simply not serious about the national defense. The DSA takeover of the Dems has caused the party as a whole to lurch the far left. If either house of Congress flips, the national security will be damaged, perhaps severely (as did the 2011 Sequester). So President Trump factoring in the realities of domestic politics and their consequences is a right and proper calculation.
Mark R. Levin@marklevinshow

Time for a change in strategy.  We should consider slow walking the enemy, building up our munitions, our oil reserves, get the price of gasoline down, get through the midterms, then knock them out.  Instead of rushing to a deal, building up their oil industry, transferring billions to them, etc .

The second opinion is in Hunter v. US, on when a criminal defendant can appeal despite having waived some or all of his right to appeal. The court today holds that an appeal waiver can't be enforced "when it would result in a miscarriage of justice." supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf…

Absolutely 💯. I believe that is what they are planning and are going to execute. This was done to open the strait, get oil priced down, and gather intelligence on the ground for next stage. Funny thing about MOUs - one side starts playing around, which Iran will do, the other side is free to adapt. Quickly.

Look beyond the MOU. The odds of a final, acceptable deal are slim. President Trump should direct the intelligence community to prepare Operation People’s Fury—a plan to support Iranians when they return to the streets. No instrument of American power can cripple the regime more effectively than the Iranian people themselves. Military and economic pressure remain essential. But Iranians are the force that can finish the job.

Supreme Court Opinions: United States v. Hemani. Federal criminal law prohibits habitual drug users from owning guns. Here, there was no individualized finding that the defendant was a danger. Just that he used pot. Conviction overturned, per Justice Gorsuch. 9-0ish

Justices Alito and Kagan concur in the judgment. They'd affirm but for different reasons (not quite persuaded by habitual drunkard law). They also explicitly endorse the constitutionality of disarming felons and mentally ill as consistent with the Second Amendment

🚩So when this scumbag Wafic Safa says that Hezbollah has gone soft on the state, translate it. He spent his career deciding when those guns point inward, and he is telling you they should point inward again. He’s also volunteering the next generation for the war this one already lost: thousands dead, the south occupied, the Dahieh in rubble. He has no new plan. He has a new generation to spend. Same defeat. A generation later.
Hussain Abdul-Hussain@hahussain

Hezbollah’s former domestic affairs tsar says his militia is being too nice toward the Lebanese state and must use violence. He says if this generation of “resistance” fighters failed to invade the Israeli Galilee, the next generation will.
