Vitamin D is not a vitamin. It's a steroid hormone synthesised in the skin from cholesterol via ultraviolet light, then converted in the liver and kidneys into its active form, where it regulates gene expression in virtually every tissue in the body. We called it a vitamin because we discovered it while studying deficiency diseases in people who didn't go outside. The name stuck. The modern guidelines, designed for people who eat seed oils, avoid animal fat, apply SPF 30 before going to the letterbox, and work in offices under fluorescent lighting, are very effective at suppressing it. You need cholesterol (eat fat) and sunlight (go outside) to make it. We've managed to pathologise both.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 France, Spain, Italy, the Philippines are all signing agreements with Iran over oil tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile China, India and Russia get a free pass. The Strait of Hormuz is in fact OPEN to the world, except the US, Israel and some EU states.

@haaretzcom How does your own medicine taste? It’s always impressive how you manage to portray yourselves as the victims, even though you’re the perpetrators.

Nobody cares if women work. But MOTHERS should not say to their children “I could stay home and raise you, but I prefer to be at work. I’m going to pay someone $12/hr to raise you instead.” We created a 2 income trap. Pushing moms into the workforce was a mistake we need to fix.

Potentially massive development. “Brotherly Iraq is exempt from any restrictions we have imposed on the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran’s military spokesman said. Iraq is the Gulf country that has shut in the most crude production capacity at >3 MMbpd—swinging that back would be huge.

The Pentagon is hiding US casualties from the Iran war, The Intercept reports, and the numbers are staggering. An Intercept analysis finds nearly 750 US troops killed or wounded since the war began. CENTCOM has been feeding reporters outdated figures that exclude recent attacks, won't provide a death count, and refused to even confirm how many bases have been hit. A defense official called it a "casualty cover-up." The real picture: at least 15 killed, 520+ wounded — and that doesn't include 200+ sailors treated after a fire aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, or thousands of contractors. Iranian strikes have forced US troops off their bases entirely, retreating to hotels and office buildings across the region. An Iranian drone already hit a luxury hotel in Bahrain wounding Pentagon employees. Former CENTCOM commander Gen. Votel warned this "could turn civilian infrastructure into military targets." Retired generals are now speaking out: the Pentagon knew Iran would retaliate against US bases and did nothing to harden them. "The failure to invest in hardened infrastructure was a choice," one analyst told The Intercept. Hegseth prayed for troops at a Pentagon press conference. A defense official's response: "Why didn't Hegseth protect them?"

The Third Gulf War (aka, the ‘Hormuz War’) is entering into its 6th week, at the very end of the initial White House guidance of a 4-6 week campaign. For the oil market, we are into demand destruction territory, although further releases of the SPR may help to buy time a bit.

Israel moved the red line & forced the war. POTUS’s original red line was no nuclear weapon for Iran. The Supreme Leader agreed & held a prohibition on a nuclear weapon since 2004. The disagreement & debate was on enrichment levels & monitoring. The Israelis convinced POTUS that zero enrichment was the red line, the Iranians disagreed, we took out their enrichment capability w/ Op Midnight Hammer, making enrichment a dead issue. Iran was back at the negotiating table afterwards, this was a major threat to Israel’s goal of regime change, so they forced our hand & attacked Iran, knowing Iran would then attack us, plunging us into the war.
Will Chamberlain@willchamberlain

@joekent16jan19 Bullshit, Joe. Steve Witkoff - the lead American negotiator - made clear the Iranians were intransigent and unwilling to make concessions. Are you calling him a liar?

The way Israelis keep talking as if Iran just randomly decided to victimize them with missiles -- due to anti-Semitism -- is almost impressive in its sociopathic delusion. Israelis really believe they have the divine right to bomb and exterminate anyone with no retaliation.

🚨 As you’re going about your day, hundreds of thousand of Israelis are racing to bomb shelter, after Iran just fired another barrage of missiles, including in Tel Aviv.

Ukrainians Operating in Libya Against Russian Ships In December 2024, the Russian cargo ship Ursa Major sank after an explosion in the engine room. At the time, Russia classified the incident as a terrorist act. In December 2025, an Omani-flagged oil tanker was seriously damaged by drones near the island of Crete. Then, in March 2026, the LNG carrier Kendil was targeted by naval drones in international waters off Malta. The attack caused explosions and led to the ship’s sinking. Now, an investigation by Radio France Internationale (RFI) has revealed that Libya has been providing bases for Ukrainians to attack Russian vessels. According to RFI, Ukraine has established operational bases in western Libya to launch strikes against Russian ships from its “shadow fleet.” A Ukrainian contingent of more than 200 officers and technical specialists is stationed at three main sites: an airbase in Misrata, the Mellitah area (near the oil complex), and a coordination center in Tripoli. The situation becomes extremely complicated because the cooperation agreement with Ukraine was signed by the Government of National Unity (GNU), based in Tripoli (west), led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah. With official governmental protection, Russia has very limited options for diplomatic or law enforcement responses. This creates direct tension with eastern Libya (Benghazi), controlled by the Libyan National Army (LNA) of Khalifa Haftar, a longtime Russian ally. Fil article: open.substack.com/pub/global21/p…
