Forgotten Football Clubs

🇨🇱 Chile, admittedly I dont know much about the country in regards its current football clubs, nor its players other than Vidal and Alex's Sanchez are from there. But I have looked into some of their Forgotten Football Clubs and the history of football from the South American nation, and I've found it to be intriguing, to say the least. Here are a few I've selected whilst also sharing a map of the current clubs playing there, with the map drawn by the brilliant @RiccardoDAgnese 👏 Bádminton F.C. (also known as Badminton Football Club) One of the older clubs, often mentioned in compilations of disappeared teams; it had a presence in early Chilean football. Club de Deportes Green Cross (or simply Green Cross) A particularly famous case. Originally from Santiago, it relocated to Temuco and later to other cities due to tragedies and issues. The club suffered a devastating bus accident in 1961 that killed many players, and it eventually ceased to exist in its original form. C.D. América de Rancagua A club from Rancagua that played in professional leagues before disappearing. C.D. Aviación Linked to the Chilean Air Force (Fuerza Aérea), it competed in the top divisions in the 1970s before folding. Club Deportivo Universidad Técnica del Estado (also known as UTE or similar) Tied to a technical university; it had a stint in professional football. Naval de Talcahuano (or simply Naval) A club from Talcahuano that played in the Primera División before disappearing. Santiago National A historic Santiago-based team that left professional ranks in the 1950s and vanished in the early 1960s. Soinka Bata (or Soinca Bata) A factory team (linked to the Bata shoe company) founded in the 1960s that had a notable run before disappearing. #NeverForget

@Midasz_1 @SweeperPod One or two of the clubs which no longer exist (the long-defunct Kickers Mühleholz spring to mind) did just that back in the 1930s when they played in the Voralberg regional league, but Liechtensteiner clubs later agreed to play in the Swiss regional system.

@KiszelyPhilip The way you're carrying on, anyone would think she said something really awful. She's like a breath of fresh air. You, on the other hand, are like a curry-driven fart in a phone box.

The Green Party has managed to ride a complete imbecile into Parliament—on the back of clan voting and moral bankruptcy. For those of us who can remember when the country wasn’t insane, the sight of a Rod, Jane and Freddy understudy is actually quite distressing. But the overriding feeling is one of embarrassment. Maybe it’s because I’ve had a long day. Maybe it’s because I’m facing the prospect of the same tomorrow. I don’t know. But I have zero confidence in this country having any kind of meaningful future. Why? Because in the past, the whole population would have jeered and howled at tit-Fiddler Dave and his Islamo-fascist freak show. Now people march for Palestine, call for sharia law, and moronically intone that trans women are women. Gimme a time machine. Please.

"But, but, all Catholic priests.."
BUCHANAN: Dublin Time Machine@RobLooseCannon

A Catholic priest used a vast underground network to save thousands of Jews, Allied prisoners, and anti-fascists from Nazi persecution during World War II. Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty (1898–1963) was an Irish Catholic priest and Vatican diplomat born in Kiskeam, Cork, and raised in Kerry. He rose through Vatican ranks, becoming a senior official in the Holy See. When Mussolini’s Italy fell in 1943 and the Nazis occupied Rome, he refused to stand by as they rounded up Jews and escaped Allied POWs. Using his Vatican connections and diplomatic status, he arranged safe houses, forged documents, and smuggled people to safety using a network of priests, nuns, diplomats, and ordinary Italians. His dangerous efforts helped save about 6,500 people. During this heroic mission he played a lethal game of a cat and mouse with the ruthless SS chief in Rome, Herbert Kappler. There was even a bounty on Irishmans head, forcing him to use clever disguises, secret signals, and Vatican immunity to evade capture. The Nazis even painted a white line at St. Peter’s Square to mark where they could arrest him...he never crossed it! After the war, in an extraordinary act of forgiveness, O’Flaherty visited Kappler in prison and eventually converted him to Catholicism. He returned to Ireland in his later years and died in 1963. He is commemorated across the world, including a bronze statue in Killarney and the US Congressional Medal of Freedom. His heroism was immortalised in the Gregory Peck movie "The Scarlet and the Black" (1983) Buy the Dublin Time Machine a pint and support the DTM Book ko-fi.com/buchanandublin…

It's rarely I'm dumbfounded, but I just can't imagine the mindset that thought this acceptable to think let alone write. I assume all Unionist leaders will be condemning this outright and reassuring people that they can wear whatever they like wherever they like !
