We had a lovely dinner tonight with a group of friends. For the first time in 12 years, politics were discussed. Perhaps indicative of how strongly most of us feel about the direction in which we are being led. I don’t know how the others usually vote but I would guess there were 2 staunch Conservatives, another reluctant Conservative and a couple of Labour or Lib Dems. All agreed though that the only feasible way to save the nation we know and love is for Reform to form the next government. Principally because we thought that is the only party which will actively roll back the damage which is currently being inflicted. I am sure half a dozen 50/60 somethings from East Anglia is a pretty unscientific focus group. But it made me wonder how many other similar conversations are taking place, throughout the land? I don’t think anybody should underestimate just how much the current government is energising the usually apolitical to oppose it.

It’s hardly shocking @MayorofLondon has been knighted. He’s only responsible for ruining London. Blair was knighted with the Order of the Garter, the highest ranking of chivalry. He is responsible for crimes against humanity. Our honours system is used and abused.

@AllisonPearson On your logic, people without children also pay for a school place and people with children have only paid for one. If you choose to buy a service then you pay VAT. Decisions not to charge VAT to one section of the community are the very definition of a tax break.

Dear HM Treasury, It is illegal in the EU to tax education. School fees are not a “tax break”. Parents have already paid for a state-school place. Stick to being sh1t at running the economy.

@AllisonPearson That’s not why VAT is not charged in the EU. The EU VAT directive prevents nations charging differently on services in competition. So unless all 27 agree, it can’t be charged. Finally, 8 years after the referendum, a positive benefit from Brexit.
