Britain's first official Overdose Prevention Centre opens in Glasgow this morning. I am grateful to everyone who has worked for many years to realise this. 5 years ago, I volunteered with @PeteKrykant_OPC to start the UK's first unofficial overdose prevention pilot. I said at the time, "At a street level, if it saves one person from contracting HIV or dying from an overdose, then it will have been worthwhile." We supervised 894 injections, reversed 9 overdoses, and saved 8 lives. Whilst it is not a universal remedy for Scotland’s drug death emergency, it will save lives and it will be a place where extremely marginalised people can get the help they need. I wish the team every success.

It's been a brilliant 3 days at #EHRC2024 in Warsaw. We've been hearing inspiring work from some passionate harm reductionists - from parraphanallia to policy, through evidence and empathy we resist the war on drugs Thanks to everyone who came to the session on co-production

The language we use shapes our understanding of, and our approach to removing barriers to support experienced people who use drugs - if we're serious about dismantling stigma, words really do matter. This looks great on Thursday 👇👇

Friday is our last Your Voice event of 24. We set ourselves a challenge this year to push our understanding of what genuine co-production means for Project 6 and our community Still a long way to go but we're sharing some lessons we've learnt so far (mostly by making mistakes!🧵
