Russia has the mindset of a pre-liberal colonial empire. It still thinks that conquering territory leads to prosperity.
After WW2, the Liberal World Order created the greatest peace and prosperity in human history through freedom and free markets.
All Russia had to do was adopt liberalism to achieve peace and prosperity.
And it refused to.

One question about Russian mindset has been stuck in my head for a long time🇷🇺🤔 What the fuck was the Kremlin thinking? Seriously. Russia had trade with Europe. It was making money from oil and gas. It had influence. It had Crimea. It had Donbas under constant pressure. It wasn’t isolated. Then it launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Did they really believe Ukrainians wouldn’t fight? Did they really believe the West would just sit back and watch? Did they really think nuclear threats would make everyone surrender? Or did they simply believe that force always wins because that’s the only language they’ve known for generations? Whatever the answer is, this has turned into one of the biggest strategic miscalculations of the 21st century.

Why have Russian oil and gas revenues for May 2026 increased by 32.4% compared to May 2025 if 80% of Russian oil refineries aren't operational?
P.S. you'd be surprised how many actual Ukrainians don't like propaganda like this.

The massive NATO-backed attack on Moscow demonstrates that our rulers have lost their minds. The reason for Russia's restraint is that once it retaliates against NATO, there will be no escalation control, and the conflict will likely spiral into nuclear war.
