By comparison, data centers use only a fraction of that—roughly 15–17%. In other words, car washes collectively consume significantly more water and energy than all data centers combined. At the same time, data centers are not just another type of facility. They power advanced technologies, enable artificial intelligence, support robotics, and provide the digital backbone for innovations like autonomous systems and next-generation infrastructure. This raises an important question: who benefits from limiting the growth of such critical technology infrastructure in the United States? One could argue that slowing down this progress ultimately weakens technological advancement and global competitiveness.
