In Among Us, you play a colored blob doing chores in space until someone secretly kills you. The game has no real story. Somehow it just became a 10-episode TV show on Paramount+, dropped this week with no warning. To make a show out of that, the writers had to invent the whole cast. The crewmates never even had names. So they gave each one a job and named them after their colors. Randall Park plays Red, the captain. Dan Stevens is Blue, the doctor, and Yvette Nicole Brown is Orange, the ship's head of HR. Elijah Wood turns up as Green, an unpaid intern. Ten episodes, about 13 minutes each, all set on the ship from the game. The person behind it is Owen Dennis, who made a cartoon called Infinity Train. That show got deleted off HBO Max in 2022 and never came back, so this is a much bigger swing for him. The animation comes from Titmouse, the studio that makes Big Mouth. The "no warning" part probably comes down to timing. The show was announced back in 2023, with a short teaser in 2024, but no release date was ever set. Then the Paramount+ page went live a few hours before Summer Game Fest, a yearly event where companies reveal new games, and Among Us was already on the lineup. The episodes likely went up early, ahead of a reveal that was coming that same night. When Among Us came out in 2018, almost nobody played it. Two years later, close to 500 million people were playing it every month, about one in every sixteen people on Earth. That silent little blob you controlled back then now has a name, a job, and a famous actor reading its lines.
