There were multiple things that were not handled well. Giannis deserves some blame. So do the Bucks organization. No one is a bad guy. Giannis letting his ego get too big doesn’t make him a bad person.

@TappingTheKeg No way y'all read it and look at Giannis as the bad guy 😂

It’s too bad that Shams hurt his credibility on other stories because this one is much more pointed with actual evidence The ‘slap in face’ comment about Edens is essentially lie if you believe that Giannis and Horst communicated about being traded I’m also realizing there has been no one to check giannis ego since Bud left. He looks really bad in this piece.

I love Giannis & his desire to play. I understand it, but with his injury history & the fact that the Bucks are eliminated from the playoffs this yr - it makes no sense. He played for Greece in the off-season for years & wasn't available for the Bucks when they needed him most.
Eric Nehm@eric_nehm

Before Friday's game, Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke to local reporters, insisting that he's healthy and the Bucks aren't letting him play. "I want to f—-ing play." - Antetokounmpo At @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/71619…

An NBA spokesperson in response to its Milwaukee Bucks-Giannis Antetokounmpo investigation: “The NBA’s Player Participation Policy investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo is ongoing and certain facts remain in dispute. The investigation has found that the Bucks scheduled Giannis to work out last week in three-on-three scrimmages as part of his return-to-play process, but he declined to participate. There is a disagreement as to whether the team requested that Giannis participate in a group workout earlier this week, and the league is continuing to monitor the situation.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo saga is not the Milwaukee Bucks fault Giannis is being stubborn and there is no one to tell him no. He needs to rest his body but instead he declared war on the Bucks I can’t believe he is basketball Aaron Rodgers

For what it’s worth, I don’t think either side is in the wrong here. The Bucks are operating in the best interest of the organization. Giannis will always have the desire to compete. This friction will be a hurdle to overcome, but both sides can still move forward from this.
Jake Weinbach@JWeinbachNBA

If this is what ultimately triggers a divorce between Giannis and the Bucks, it would truly be a sad way to end the long-standing relationship after everything the two sides have been through together.

Game 7
Game 7@game7__·
There are only 2 coaches in the NBA right now worse than Doc Rivers: J.J. Redick and Steve Kerr. That's it. Doc Rivers is the worst (and maybe the dumbest) coach in modern NBA history. Allow me to explain why: Doc Rivers blew a 3-1 series lead with the Orlando Magic. He blew a 3-1 series lead with the LA Clippers. He blew another 3-1 series lead with the LA Clippers. He blew a 3-2 series lead with the 76ers and got fired. He took over a 30-13 Bucks team. They're 95-99 since. And this week, he was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Here's the full timeline. In 2003, Rivers was coaching an eighth-seeded Orlando Magic team led by Tracy McGrady. McGrady scored 43, 46, 29, and 27 points through the first four games against the top-seeded Pistons. The Magic went up 3-1. After Game 4, McGrady told reporters it felt good to be heading to the second round. Detroit won the next three games by a combined 61 points. In 2008, Rivers won a championship with the Celtics. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo. Beat the Lakers in six games. The clinching game was a 39-point blowout. He went back to the Finals in 2010, led 3-2 over the Lakers, and lost Game 7. He hasn't been back since. In 2015, the Clippers led the Rockets 3-1 in the conference semifinals. In Game 6, they were up 19 in the third quarter. Houston outscored them 51-20 the rest of the way. Josh Smith and Corey Brewer led the comeback. Harden was on the bench. Game 7: Rockets won 113-100. In 2020, still with the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George held a 3-1 lead over Denver in the bubble. They blew double-digit leads in each of the last three games. In Game 7, Leonard and George combined for 24 points on 10-of-38 shooting and missed every single fourth-quarter attempt. Murray scored 40. Jokic had a triple-double. Nuggets won 104-89. Rivers was fired. His explanation: "They wanted to go home more than they wanted to win." In 2023, the 76ers held a 3-2 lead over the Celtics. Embiid had just won MVP. In Game 7, Jayson Tatum scored 51 points. The Sixers scored 10 in the third quarter. Embiid finished with 15 on 5-of-18 shooting. Harden had 9 on 3-of-11. Final score: 112-88. Rivers was fired again. The full breakdown of how Doc Rivers became the most paradoxical coach in NBA history, and why the Bucks are about to fire a Hall of Famer, is here: itsgame7.com/nba/doc-rivers… His Game 7 record: 6-10. The most Game 7 losses by any coach in NBA history. No other coach has more than five. He's the only coach to ever blow three 3-1 series leads. No one else has blown more than one. In January 2024, the Bucks fired Adrian Griffin at 30-13 and handed the job to Rivers. He went 17-19 to finish the year. Lost to the Pacers in the first round. Went 48-34 the next season. Lost to the Pacers again, in five games. Damian Lillard tore his Achilles in Game 4 and was waived that summer. Now the Bucks are 30-46. Giannis has missed 29 games. The players have reportedly lost confidence in Rivers. The front office reportedly regrets hiring him. And the expectation around the league is that he'll be fired before the season ends. In October 2024, Rivers was asked about the criticism. His response: "I've never come up short, in my opinion." When asked about the three blown 3-1 leads, he said: "I don't get enough credit for getting the three wins." He's being inducted into the Hall of Fame in August. His team might not let him finish April.
NBACentral@TheDunkCentral

Some Bucks players have reportedly lost confidence in Doc Rivers’ coaching style, per @BrettSiegelNBA “Nothing has gone right for the Bucks in quite some time, and while Doc Rivers is certainly not to blame for all of the organization's flaws, his 95-99 record since taking over in Milwaukee is extremely underwhelming. Not to mention, multiple sources relayed that there is a lack of confidence among several Bucks players in Rivers' style of coaching.” (Via clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-storie…)
