@EvanCranston @three3knots If they rely on tax deductions to be successful and stay in Australia then they are welcome to leave

@three3knots I’ll simplify it for you. If 60% of your revenue ceases and you have the same expenses you go broke very quickly. There is no scenario where the government can replace this revenue because the rest of Australia don’t pay anywhere near enough tax to cover the loss

@sandylanceley @thmsenglsh @MrNew_Vegas_ That's being very generous. House prices were growing when we had zero migration. Victoria has had the lowest growth in house prices and rents despite having the highest population growth. They also tax their landlords alot more than any other state

@RedAnton3 @thmsenglsh @MrNew_Vegas_ There’s no single reason housing costs are very high in Australia, it’s a multifaceted area. I support removing negative gearing, but it’s probably only responsible for 2-3% of costs. There’s a lot more to it and immigration is a factor.

It’s hilarious to me how narrow minded academic thinking can be. Average person does *not* think of population growth as a year on year percentage, they think about the cumulative growth over time. They’ve seen a lot of growth over decades and want it slowed considerably.
Stephen Koukoulas@TheKouk

For those frothng about population growth, here are the last 20 years of Australia's population growth by year: 2006 1.6% 2007 1.9% 2008 2.2% 2009 1.8% 2010 1.4% 2011 1.6% 2012 1.8% 2013 1.6% 2014 1.5% 2015 1.5% 2016 1.7% 2017 1.5% 2018 1.6% 2019 1.5% 2020 0.4% 2021 0.6% 2022 2.1% 2023 2.4% 2024 1.6% 2025 1.5% 2026 1.5%

@sandylanceley @thmsenglsh @MrNew_Vegas_ We are blaming immigration for the rise in housing rather than tax deductions which have led to their astronomic growth. Once again this is being manufactured

@thmsenglsh @MrNew_Vegas_ @RedAnton3 I think there’s a cumulative effect to peoples views on it. We’ve got to the point where housing is so unaffordable people are pissed off. And indeed the polls show a rise in people wanting lower immigration, not just a rise in ON.

@RedAnton3 You’re not giving people enough credit. Australia has had the most immigration this century of almost any western country (as a per capita percentage), we also have the most international students of any western country per capita. People can feel that.

@sandylanceley @MrNew_Vegas_ Its blown out primarily due to media and vested interest influence. There is a government that is threatening capital, so the easiest way to topple them is to focus on divisive commentary on immigration

@MrNew_Vegas_ @RedAnton3 Well I guess it’s attitudes like yours that got us in this position. Running high immigration for decades whilst ignoring public sentiment was always going to blow up eventually, here we are.

Dear Tripoli-born politician @jihaddibmp, making fun of Anglo-Celtic Australians, who make up over half the population of this country your parents chose to move to, and were the people who predominantly built this beautiful nation of modern Australia, is not a smart move. You are proving exactly why so many people are voting One Nation, and no, not just white Australians, but Australians of all backgrounds, for example, the Assyrian tradesmen working at my house today. If you can say white Australia is boring, white bread, cultureless-- may I make some statements about the Lebanese-Muslim community of Australia? Because I'd prefer boring food over organised crime and sharia law any day. Thank you.

Senator Hanson attacks multiculturalism & about 90% of the outraged responses focus on food. Advocates of mass immigration seem unable to cite any other benefits of importing foreign cultures. Why no mention of African films? Indian poetry? Arab music? Chinese paintings? Odd.

I recon posts like this just drives the one nation vote. Imagine getting an email that your rent is going up 7% like it has every year since Covid then you log into socials and see this shit instead of the PM trying to do something about it.

@RedAnton3 @BWJacksonX @deemadigan "And other jobs others won't." would be the clinch. Australians are willing to work any job if you pay them enough for them to live off it. To claim otherwise is to lie.

@i_borborygmi @RebelNews_AU Neither labor or liberal party branches have gag orders, or centrally managed gag orders unlike One Nation. I would suggest you look into these things before commenting. We know about the fundraisers through the Guardian, the news organisation that Hanson has banned

@RedAnton3 @RebelNews_AU As for gag orders? Branches have gag orders all the time. This is not new, nor unique to One Nation. How do you know she's using taxpayer funds for fundraising? Clearly public knowledge.

@i_borborygmi @RebelNews_AU Labor and the Liberals have not banned any media organisations. RebelNews havent been banned from press conferences. So Hanson is alone there in limiting criticism. Any conversation that the richest person has with a politician should be public knowledge, do you disagree?

@RedAnton3 Are the conversations any stakeholder has with political parties, public knowledge? Without a doubt, Labor and Liberals ban media organisations from attending press conferences, too (straight away I can guarantee that @RebelNews_AU would be one of them.)

@i_borborygmi Except it isnt, the conversations that Hanson has with Rinehart arent public knowledge. She bans media organisations from attending her press conferences, branches have gag orders in place and she uses taxpayer funds to pay for fundraising tours.
