Blue Light Destroys Harmful Bacteria On Your Skin But That's Exactly The Reason Why You SHOULDN’T Be Using It. Many red light therapy masks also contain blue light (400 nm range) which they tell you is good for killing the bacteria on your skin that causes acne problems. But what they don't tell you is that that same blue light is also causing damage to your skin cells which you are trying to rejuvenate with your red light therapy! The irony is that you're buying red light therapy to improve your skin but the blue light is actually damaging it. I’ll show what you 2 steps should be doing instead so you dont accidentally do more harm than good with your red light therapy mask. 2026 Review Study: Effects of blue light exposure on human skin at the molecular, cellular, and clinical levels: A systematic review This review looked at 45 studies on the effects of blue light on human skin and showed that it damages skin at the molecular, cellular, and clinical level. 🔵 Blue light triggers the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) inside your skin cells (the same stuff that kills bacteria), which activates enzymes that break down your collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep your skin firm and glowing. 🔵 It disrupts the circadian rhythm of your skin, which interferes with DNA repair overnight, so the damage gets worse while you sleep. 🔵 It activates Opsin-3 receptors in melanocytes, increasing melanin production, meaning it can cause or worsen hyperpigmentation. 🔵 It impairs fibroblast proliferation which reduces your skin's ability to produce new collagen. Excess Blue Light Is Already An Issue, So Why Add Even More?
