From Cartography to Revolutionary Slaughter The first pedestal of the Amhara Genocide is the artificial manufacturing of a "Historical Enemy." This was not a localised tribal grievance but a high-level geopolitical project. The Italian Genesis (1935–1941): The archive traces proves that the Ministry of Italian Africa crafted the initial administrative maps to dismember Ethiopia by isolating the Amhara. Fascist like Marshal Graziani codified the "Neftegna" slur to frame the Amhara as "alien colonists" in their own land, fabricating the first legal justification for their intended mass execution. Three decades later, this fascist blueprint was resurrected by the Ethiopian Student Movement. In 1969, the famous manifesto of Wallelign Mekonnen —and subsequently, the pseudo thesis of Bonnie Holcomb depicting Amharas “the Internal Colonialists"—revitalised Italian colonial maps into Marxist-Leninist "liberation" rhetoric. This radical turn made the poor Amhara peasant—the very backbone of the Ethiopian state—the "class enemy" of the growing ethnocentric movements. By the time the TPLF and OLF emerged on the scene, the "Amhara-as-Colonizer" fable was no longer a theory; it was the foundational logic of the resistance, with a covenant that any future state in Ethiopia would be built upon the pre-calculated exclusion of the Amhara people.
