Today, I had the pleasure of joining 5th graders from Lenoir County Public Schools to welcome and enjoy an incredible performance by the North Carolina Symphony. Thank you to everyone who made this special day possible!

He brought a steady, thoughtful presence to the #NCGA and was always willing to listen and work with others. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be missed.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and colleague, Rep. Mike Clampitt. Mike was a dedicated public servant who truly cared about the people he represented and the mountains he called home.

This two-day event will bring together community leaders, nonprofit partners, and local advocates from across Eastern NC to learn, connect, and strengthen leadership in our communities. I encourage folks in Jones County and surrounding areas to attend.

I’m glad to support opportunities like the Spring Grassroots Leadership Academy Conference coming to the Jones County Civic Center this March 19-20.

Our students deserve the very best — and this new campus will serve generations to come. I’m honored to have played a role in bringing this long-awaited investment to our community for our students and families.

This project is the result of strong partnerships between Lenoir County Public Schools, county leaders, the Town of La Grange, and state officials. I’m especially grateful to former Senator Jim Perry for encouraging us to pursue state funding to make this new school possible.

This week, we celebrated a major milestone for Lenoir County with the topping-out ceremony for the new E. B. Frink Middle School in La Grange.

As an alumnus of Moss Hill, it made the day even more special to be back in the very classrooms that helped shape my love of learning. Investing time in students helps build strong leaders for tomorrow. Thank you to the teachers & staff for all you do to inspire!

It was an honor to spend Read Across America Day at Moss Hill Elementary School! I had the opportunity to read to three wonderful classes full of bright, engaged students.

The decisions make today will impact our families, local economy, and quality of life. Since I do not have a Primary challenger, I won’t appear on your ballot — but I encourage every eligible voter to head to the polls today and make their voice heard in other important races.
