@_callumstone The rule is ridiculous now. The offside rule was brought in to stop goal hanging, not because there was an issue with players shoelaces being offside and sleeves being behind the defensive line.

Stokes very often bowls long spells, particularly against the middle/lower order. You can’t expect someone to clean up the tail with a 10 over spell and then walk out to bat at nothing for 1 and expect runs. He would simply not handle the workload of 3, frontline bowler and captain. There are two batsmen above him with far better techniques who aren’t being called to bat 3 and neither should he.
