A few times a year, SACOG hits the road to learn more about the unique areas across the Sacramento region. Last week, board members went on a tour of West Sacramento followed by the board meeting at Sutter Health Park. It was an informative and insightful exploration of the city!

Regional BDC heard from James Corless and Jill Gayaldo, Chair of Sacramento Area Council of Governments, on housing and transportation priorities. @SACOG Blueprint targets 10K homes annually while programs like Green Means Go support regional growth.

SACOG hosted a successful training on the Programming & Project Delivery process last month in partnership with the Caltrans District 3 Local Assistance team. More than 100 staff from local agencies attended to learn the steps required after receiving a SACOG funding award,

The @SACOG Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) provides young leaders of the Sacramento region a resource to gain additional leadership skills, an overall understanding of local government processes, and critical thinking skills within planning and the public sector, all through a fun and welcoming environment. YLA is focused on providing our young leaders with broader tools and skillsets that can be applied to any work path they choose, whether it's planning, health, skilled jobs, food, education, etc., students will leave with an understanding that all our systems are interconnected and have real impacts on people’s everyday lives. Meet Gary Bradford, the new Vice Chair of the SACOG Board of Directors! As Supervisor for Yuba County, Vice Chair Bradford has been a dedicated member of the SACOG board since 2021, bringing deep expertise and a passion for regional collaboration.

New bike lanes, sidewalk improvements and safer pedestrian crossings warmed everyone's spirits as we cheered on this big step toward a more connected community!

Yesterday, SACOG bundled up and joined Supervisor and SACOG Director Rich Desmond, and the Sacramento County Department of Transportation to celebrate a major milestone, the completion of the Watt Avenue Complete Street project.
