Bhilai Steel Plant Sets New Benchmark with 6 Million Tonne Hot Metal Production In a landmark achievement underscoring operational excellence and collective determination, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has created a new milestone in hot metal production by crossing the 6 million tonne mark, adding yet another chapter to its legacy. Notably, the plant had first achieved 5 million tonnes of hot metal production in 2005–06, at a time when seven blast furnaces were in operation. In contrast, the current milestone of 6 million tonnes has been accomplished with just four blast furnaces, reflecting a substantial enhancement in efficiency, technological optimization, and operational discipline. Marking the occasion, Shri Chitta Ranjan Mohapatra, Director I/c (Bhilai Steel Plant), Shri Rakesh Kumar, ED (Works) and other members of the senior management of the plant congratulated the Blast Furnace collective and stakeholders for their dedication and contribution towards this historic accomplishment. The senior management also lauded the consistent improvements in blast furnace performance, and emphasised that this milestone should serve as a benchmark for future growth and encouraged the teams to sustain the momentum and strive for even higher production levels.
