Over the past number of days, I have spoken with many families whose loved ones are in the Middle East. I am in ongoing contact with the Irish and British governments and I am working to support our citizens in the region. This war is reckless and irresponsible. Further escalation, including the involvement of the British government, reflects a dangerous disregard for international law. I will not be part of any briefing by the British government on their military operations. My priority is the safety and wellbeing of our citizens. An honour to represent @sinnfeinireland today at the @sortuEH congress in the Basque Country. Expressing solidarity with the Basque people, and with national liberation movements and progressive forces everywhere, has never been more important.

It was a pleasure to attend a Westminster reception honouring students evacuated from Gaza to pursue their university education abroad, including those now studying at Ulster University. I was also able to finally meet student advocates Soha & Doaa, who are settling in well in their courses, as well as talking to the Palestinian Ambassador Dr Husam Zomlot. The resilience & talent they have shown through the challenges of application, travel & upheaval are remarkable. I wish them every success in their studies & extend a very warm welcome to North Belfast!
