@SamR93 @HighwaysYORKS I don't believe they are. It's a monumental task to set up rearward relief. It takes a huge amount of resources, a lot of which are tied up with road closures and the incident itself.

The #M62 is now closed eastbound between J22 (#Denshaw) and J24 (#Huddersfield) due to a serious collision. An air ambulance is now on scene. There are delays of at least 30 minutes in the area.

@SamR93 Hello. Apologies for the confusion. We're releasing traffic through a gap in the central reservation. This means you'll either be directed forward to the gate, or turned around depending on where you are in the queue. This'll take some time.

@SamR93 @HighwaysYORKS No to both. You will be turned around in a controlled manner but it's a time and labour intensive process. I can pretty much guarantee you that anybody driving in the incorrect direction without instruction on a motorway will be prosecuted.

@HighwaysYORKS I am at the back of the queue, no one is here. Because of this advice cars are turning around without any assistance from police. Please can you confirm if it is safe and legal for us to turn around?

This. When people say "oh it's not THAT hot". Mate. We live in houses built to retain heat, we are not used to hot weather, we have no Aircon in our homes unless we buy it specifically and there's no breeze. Its grim.
