Congratulations to everyone who has received interviews so far! And for those who haven’t yet, don't worry. The season has just started, and interviews can come through even until January, so stay hopeful! As you prepare, I recommend starting mock interviews now. Practice with your colleagues or even online with strangers. Make sure you turn your video camera on and observe each other, this is crucial. Ideal preparation goes beyond memorizing answers; it's about learning to articulate clearly, concisely, and with confidence. Accent doesn’t matter as long as your responses are clear and understandable. Take notes on everything you say, and keep refining your answers. With practice, you’ll feel much more prepared! Good luck! #match2025 #interview #residency

Only a few amount of people know what this means to me 😭 I will be a physician in the United States 😭 I failed 3 times because for me, the listening subtest so hard (Australian, British accent) I practiced for month, listening podcast, series, interviews, etc.

@WestinWong My program talks about setting achievable goals and that’s been helpful. Example: I’m doing anki (long story) my mentor said 5 cards/ day is reasonable. For board questions, 10 qs. Basically make the tasks very achievable. I went from being paralyzed and doing no qs to 70/week

I'll always look back at #July2024 as the month where my most precious dream became my reality. A month that terrified & challenged me & had me grow every day! In the toughest moments, I was aware of the privilege that it all is. Onwards🚀 #InternalMedicine #residency #medtwitter

@jasminemorantey Same, omg! I experienced so many emotions in this week - overwhelm, stress, imposter syndrome, intrigue, enthusiasm, passion, privilege, tiredness, the want to prove myself in this new beginning, and so much more! It was as tough at the start, as it's rewarding at the end.

Finished my first week of residency! It was honestly tough, there’s no way of sugar coating it. There’s a lot of imposter syndrome that comes with becoming the best doctor you can for your patients. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity and I remind myself this every day. 🥰

1) Why is the patient here / chief concern? - This seems like the most basic question that is often overlooked. What made the patient decide to leave his/her house to come to the hospital? - When reading the overnight H&P, the abundance of clinical documentation can create confusion. - Simplicity is key. What is the chief concern? Is it chest pain? Is it dyspnea on exertion? Knowing this information will help frame your thoughts.

Intern year was one of the toughest experiences of my life, but also one of the most gratifying. I want to share some reflections on my attempts to maintain mental wellness. Hopefully some points resonate with the new interns.

This first week, my senior residents taught me some special lessons: they were patient & kind, stopped what they were doing to teach/answer anything I asked, let me observe their patient interactions & so, taught me to open doors for others that were previously opened for you.

My favourite thing about our #orientationweek at LSU UHC has been that every time I asked someone for directions, they walked me to where I needed to be. It really counted in an otherwise overwhelming week with so much new information! #MedTwitter #NewBeginnings
