🚨 NEW REPORT 🚨 Our National Student Accommodation Survey 2026 report is out today. We look at the upcoming Renters' Rights Act, the student housing shortage, the impact of inadequate maintenance funding and more. And we're calling on the government to take urgent action.

@nickhillman @BBCr4today The suggestion from Chris Curtis that it may sometimes be better to take out a private loan was astonishing (not to mention unrealistic and dangerous). There's a lot we'd like to change about Plan 2 (and 5), but so much of the discussion is so off the mark.

Wowzers - what a thoroughly disingenuous piece on @BBCr4today on student loans. No recognition that people with degrees earn more than those without, are less likely to be unemployed, have better health etc. No recognition of how progressive the real rate of interest is etc.

This explains the interest rate THRESHOLDS that have been frozen (£28,470 – £51,245). #plan2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">savethestudent.org/student-financ… The interest RATE is currently 3.2% + up to 3%, based on March 2025's RPI rate. The RPI rate in use will change in Sept 2026 to become March 2026's rate.

We've seen this in a few places, but it's INCORRECT. ❌ The interest rate THRESHOLDS have been frozen as a natural knock-on of freezing the repayment threshold. The interest RATE hasn't been frozen, and hasn't been 7.9% since July 2024. cc @Telegraph
