You need to set to UTC including offline, Its not just about daylight, but also about daily routine where daylight is centered as much as possible. So daylight is September 22, not both Sep 22 and Sep 23. Again timezones was made for a reason which you refuse to understand and be shock to see consequences of there removal and how no easy it is.

@ShadowriverVR @discord @TIME Computer systems already support UTC. Also 22:00 isn’t entirely the same everywhere. At different times of the year it can vary between dark and light. 22:00 maybe isn’t the best example but 20:00 works better. It can be both light or dark depending where you are.

Easy understanding of daily routine no matter where you are, simple understanding when day and night are no matter where you are, 22:00 is 22:00 means the same everywhere. There would be a lot of cost on abendeding timezone systems in computer and electronics some disconected from internet, considering people complain DTS that changes time just for +/- 1 hour i dont think adaption will be easy, specially hard for people getting use to date changing midday, and date exists to mark a day of daylight. it might been easy for you but you are not everyone. People are not global, they bind to local daylight cycle and majority of people don't move much, theres reasons why timezones was made in first place.

@ShadowriverVR @discord @TIME Sure but do you actually gain anything by using a local time zone? There isn't really much given the cost and how simple it is to adapt. I would prefer our country at least use all of the same time zone. It is a pain in the ass even when it comes to interstate.

@ShadowriverVR @discord @TIME Using UTC has way more positive effects than negative ones. We used it in the military and it took like two or three days to get used to it and you never had to think about it again. Global meeting at 1300 means 1300 for everyone.

am pm is irrelevant in this problem, it does not change that 22:00 would have different meaning then 22:00 if you used UTC everywhere if oyu so picky. China is not much wider then CET timezone so it's not a big of a problem. but wider it would be little bit weird with daylight after midnight and night closer to midday in east.

All types of AI i mentioned are machine learning AI and operate under same fundamentals, models trained by examples of outputs matched to corresponding input, model trains weights based on that data, it's really what revolutionary about it and makes headlines, instead of programing all the cases manually, you show examples and it learns based on it and outputs are way more organic then any conventionally made AI. LLMs and image/video/music generation are perticulely hated because it genually threatens to take jobs, freelence artists are perticilerly zealotus about it as even without AI they are in highly competetive market where they need to make name of themselves, where there not enough professional positions and they jumping on eachother throtes all the time and it's hard for them to compete with cheap image generator that gives descent results, does things in seconds for cents or sometimes free, it makes way less people wanting to pay them sometimes 100s of $ for commissions. Any other argument is just a offshots of that to make people who don't care about other peoples jobs hate machine learning for other reasons. Term "GenAI" spawned to counter genue good pro machine learning arguments, that it's hard to counter by people who hates it and term keeps morphing as arguments evolve.

@ShadowriverVR @stupidtechtakes It was meant to be used to discern what AI is harmful to the environment etc to shift blame AWAY from other forms of AI like home built/run LLMs or tools like blender mapping assistance. I can see how it easily got misunderstood and warped over time as more people heard it though

Any LLM is GenAI. Even Google Translate has been a Transformer since like 2018. Transformers as a whole were originally researched for a more accurate Google Translate, and benchmarked as more accurate than NMT for such tasks (@SENG00N)

If we talk about machine learning all is technically generative ai, because as those models generate output based on given input based on examples they been trained on, recognition models generate labels, transcription models generate text, also image generation started as denoiser model simply feeded with totaly random input it started to hallucinate creating random images later refined to control that process, LLMs started as auto complete models.

@stupidtechtakes my guy.. we say genAI to specify generative shit because that's the only AI we truly take strong issue with. If you hate the use you either like genAI or don't understand what we're talking about.
