@qheddie I don't know how many times i've read "declining last form" in the notes, because the jockey chose not to run / waste the horse for whatever reason or the horse just didn't hit the same speeds as last time out. Majority of the time the note is wrong, based on paper figures only.

It is worth the time and effort to watch race replays instead of relying only on past performance data when handicapping a race. The abbreviated trouble lines in past performance data are often incomplete due to limited space. Watching video tapes is essential IMO.
