Look I’m as shocked as you. TMAG may be flawed but honestly whenever I watch it I’m transported to a galaxy far, far away, and I maintain despite itself sometimes, it’s just got that magic for me.

Maybe I’m just dumb, or easily pleased or inarticulate etc Or maybe the intention of the artist to the recipient of the art is not always 1:1 & that’s okay?

… also it means that sometime I mine more from movies/art is objectively not as well constructed because I know there’s something there that moves me. Is this projection? Is it just media illiteracy? More to the point - does it matter, specifically to me?

I think I may have come to a realisation that the way I consume art is different to a lot of people & it is why sometimes I feel a disconnect with consensus. I tend to meet it where I find it, FEEL it (with little analysis) & then examine my feelings after the fact.

@Tresob No shade & I’m being genuine here I have been deeply disappointed how we can’t just talk about how movies made us feel instead of breaking down how ‘objectively’ they are good or bad 😆 I do love the interpretations of it all though that’s more my bag.

I am disappointed that Star Wars geek conversation have devolved into “was this good or bad.” We used to have rich conversations interpreting the movies…not just saying how they made us feel.

@TSoS_ At this point I guess what I’m really saying is you’re obviously a very smart cookie. And criticising art is cool, just maybe be a little nicer to the people who like the ‘slop’ you can easily objectively ‘prove’ is bad. Sometimes a painting just means more to others than you.

@TSoS_ & look tbf this feels a bit of a vague reply, i would say maybe in your joy of objectively praising Andor and criticising TMAG (which is fair game) I think sometimes people get caught in the crossfire when you group people together with sometimes harsh sarcasm.

Look, art is *luckily* a very subjective concept and with Star Wars it's really enjoyable to hear why exactly different movies or shows are people's favourite, but if you think Andor was 'boring', I will instantly assume you're stuck with the mind of a 12 year old.

@ThomasStorai I was captivated by the thriller, thrilled by the sci fi, and moved by the themes and that ending 🙌

Steven Spielberg makes a spectacular return to scifi, reminding us why he’s still one of the best. Disclosure Day is a captivating film from start to finish. 1/3

Actively rooting for a movie to “fail” at the box office is some of the most ten year old shit I see on this app.

All due respect to TSoS, but isn't it exactly the approach of those who hate #TheMandalorianAndGrogu? I've seen quite a few folks dismiss this film as just a "product" that has no beauty or ability to move viewers. So, sure, let's talk about art. But let's talk about *all* art.
The Sietch of Sci-Fi |@TSoS_

You people have this conversation every other week because you no longer measure art for its inherent beauty, its ability to move you or the ways in which it engages you to think; you have reduced your scope to seeing nothing but *products* that need to be financially successful.

@zilchman115 I thought it was great. Not perfect but had that Spielbergien magic. On the surface it’s one film but there’s more going on underneath - I need to watch it again tbh

@TatooineSons I love Andor. It is the better show on all merits and has a powerful message. But the heart wants what the heart wants 😬 Ahsoka baby!

DISCLOSURE DAY: Steven Spielberg said, “I believe in the magic of the movies and traditional local media 🥹” A rich text, not always good but fascinating. I enjoyed it.

Still thinking about Disclosure Day, a movie I’m mixed on, leaning positive, but man is it lingering.
