America is not fascist—a charge that collapses under even casual scrutiny. True fascism demands the total submersion of the individual into a mystic collective, usually laced with racial or national idolatry, and enforced by a centralized state that crushes private life. That is emphatically not the animating spirit of Republicans or Independents.
What these groups steadfastly oppose is Revolutionary Socialism: the creed that man’s purpose is to serve a class-based collective, his property and choices forfeit to the state’s grand design. They oppose, with equal clarity, the sorting of society by race. Instead, they insist on seeing people as individuals—distinct, sovereign, judged solely by character, by willingness to live under law, and by respect for the humanity of others. A politics rooted in personal moral agency is the antithesis of fascism; it is, in fact, fascism’s mortal enemy.
The real innovation in collectivist tribalism belongs to the Democrats. They have elevated race into the primary axis of social stratification—Whites on one side, All Other Ethnicities on the other—creating a hierarchy of alleged oppressors and oppressed. This is no accident of rhetoric; it is a deliberate architecture meant to fracture the body politic along pigment lines. As James Lindsay of @NewDiscourses has astutely labeled it, this is “Race Marxism”: the old Marxist template of class antagonism simply repainted in ethnic tones, yet still aimed at dismantling existing institutions and lodging ultimate authority in the state.
Thus the modern Democratic coalition fuses Revolutionary Socialism with Race Marxism, yielding a thoroughgoing rejection of Americanism—the classical-liberal tradition of individual rights, limited government, and equality before the law.
A more precise term for this ideology might be Post-Fascism. Listen carefully to their language: they no longer speak of the American republic but of “Our Democracy,” implying the nation itself is a collective possession, an organic whole to be guided by the enlightened apparatus of the federal government. The nationalist premise lingers—the idea of a unified national will—yet it is now married to leftist rather than rightist collectivism. The state remains supreme, merely flying new banners of equity and social justice.
In the end, the labels are secondary. What matters is the principle: the steady displacement of the sovereign individual by group identity and coercive state power. History is unambiguous about where such roads lead.
