@mina_el_naguib @NottFoundation @RCSEd Yeah, its STAE rebranded and with a new name! There were observers who were medstudents and CT1-2, so maybe. Its very heavy on surgery so you can decide if it's something that you'll find useful

What a week its been! I feel energized, motivated & armed with new skills to keep doing this crazy job. Its been such a treat meeting so many likeminded surgeons from across the globe and establishing new connections! Cannot recommend this course enough! @NottFoundation @RCSEd

@AlexNevard @DocOnSkis In that case vascular surgeons should perform ed thoracotomy as the most qualified and experienced. Little difference here between general and vasc surgeons, both do damage control in trauma

@StSenka @DocOnSkis They're our surgeons on site. They're pretty fantastic. General surgeons can come across from the other site if needed.

Interesting discussion the other day. What would you do? Penetrating chest trauma, arrests as they pull up into the ambulance bay. Assuming they are suitable for a thorocotomy, where do you do it? The ambulance or the resus room? Who does it the TT or the PHEM crew?

@AlexNevard @DocOnSkis What hospital does not have general surgeons? Im v confused. Who will take this patient after resus thoracotomy to theatre to finish the operation and close?

@StSenka @DocOnSkis As we don't have general surgeons or thoracic surgeons on our trauma team I'll stick with my mantra of Whoever is the most competent in the room to do it.

@DocOnSkis @AlexNevard Definitely resus over ambulance, i agree. You don't need a thoracic surgeon for a thoracotomy. Any general surgeon trained in damage control trauma surgery is the best person for it.

@StSenka @AlexNevard We rarely have a thoracic surgeon anywhere nearby in the required timeframe. In any case, a resus bay is a vastly better environment than the back of an ambulance, to do it in.

@AlexNevard Resus room. ED staff, unless ambulance has a doctor in it unequivocally more capable/suitable to do it.

My 92 year patient said I’ve just inspired her to study medicine! I made her a deal that I’d save a clinic room next to mine just for her ❤️ That’s one more doctor for the NHS!
