So much for “fixing” trade. • Revenue mirage: Government collected $151 billion in tariffs early on… but the Supreme Court ruled Trump overstepped, forcing $166 billion (roughly half) to be refunded to importers. • Foreign investment DOWN: Official numbers show less FDI last year than the year before — not the flood of new factories Trump bragged about. • Business chaos tax: Tariffs flipped more than 50 times — creating insane uncertainty that crushed hiring and slowed economic growth. • Empower China: China had record trade surplus in 2025, by gaining new agreements with those nations facing Trump tariffs— majority of whom are American allies. This has weakened US alliances and hegemony.
