@mirtle “Not great” is an understatement. The phrase I’d use is “negligent mismanagement”.

If the Leafs had one fewer point this season, they would have finished third last in the NHL and guarateed keeping a top five pick through the lottery.
The way they handled the end of the season was not great.

@elonmusk This will create two classes of people: The Ultra-Rich owners of the AI companies, and everyone else, who will be living in a communistic hell.

@LeafsPapi_ @Ozoon_CA And if the leafs management weren’t negligent, they would have lost at least two more games in regulation since January and we’d already be celebrating. Instead, it’s likely that the Leafs will hand Boston the 6th Overall pick this year. Which is, naturally, the Leafiest outcome.

CGY and NYR have tiebreaker over TOR
- If TOR loses out and either CGY or NYR pickup 3/4 points, they jump the Leafs
- If both CGY and NYR pickup 3/4 points and Leafs lose out, Leafs would drop to bottom 3 guaranteeing they keep their draft pick

@davidalter If you want loser points, then you’ve gotta make it 3-2-1 for regulation win - OT win - OT loss, or you wind up with this stupidity. The current system also makes the end of the third period in close games a total bore, as both teams sit back and play for the loser point.

The Islanders are officially eliminated on the same day they are tied for 9th in the league overall in wins (43). What a system.

Really emotional #Isles room following their elimination.

@Dr_Singularity I wish. Unless things change, AI returns will be concentrated to a small number of corporations and individuals.
English

@leafs_truth Managerial negligence. This following massive overpays at last season’s deadline, abject inaction this season (not firing Berube in November, failing to make any moves through the season), and securing poor returns at this deadline.
All amounts to managerial malpractice.
English

@CaseyNewton and @kevinroose, AI companies dismiss concerns about mass unemployment by highlighting the GDP growth that AI will bring. But if the returns from AI is concentrated to a small group of companies and individuals, how is that good for society?!
English

@SelectOneNow @davidalter Yes, Keith Pelley, for example. You may have heard of him. He’s a pretty influential guy in Leafs management.

If you're on Team Tank for the #Leafs to keep their top-5 selection at the 2026 Draft, you are rooting for the Flames to beat the Mammoth tonight.

@LeafsPapi_ Someone’s gotta tell Willy to cut it out

@SamAMcKee Worst possible outcome is coming - handing Boston the no. 6 pick
English

The infuriating thing about this is how close they are and still need a lot of breaks to get in. If they had ANY commitment to tanking (like Florida has done) they would comfortably inside the bottom 5. The theme of this season “Disconnect”

As of this morning, there is now a three-way tied for fifth-worst points percentage in the NHL. Leafs-Panthers tomorrow night could help decide which team finishes bottom five and could also help determine whether the Leafs keep their first round pick.

(HEADPHONE WARNING)
Come take a seat inside the gates of Launch Complex 39B to watch & listen as SLS and her crew of four take to the skies, destined for the moon on the Artemis II mission.
Lots to break down in the audio - from the HPU's chuffing away, the ROFI's popping, and the poor microphone taking the acoustic brunt of four RS-25 engines and a pair of five-segment solid rocket boosters.
Come check it!

@mcclxskey Hahahaha
That’s exactly the jibber jabber he was spewing.

First, you need the structure, okay. Then when you put a structure in place, what you do is you take that structure and you come up with a strategy. So now you’ve got your structure and your strategy, okay, and boom - you’re on to tactics. It’s a sequence, right? And so you need the right people in the right structure with the right strategy and the right tactics and then you have what’s called alignment. What alignment does is it lets you have accountability. So there’s your winning formula right there. I mean, look at Michael Hagey. Could be the next Sid Cosby. So we’ve got to learn from the Buffalo Sabretooth Tigers and build around our foundational pieces like Michael Nylander if we’re going to win Stanley’s Cup. I’ve heard a lot of comments (a lot of comments!) and I know #35 has been flying off the shelf, but I’m not here to sell jerseys.

English

@mirtle Gee thanks, Mirtle. Pretty depressing piece that is, unfortunately, spot on.
