Chuck is the last of the old school martial arts stars from the 60's. He starred with Bruce Lee in 1972's Way of the Dragon in what remains one of the most memorable fight scenes ever filmed in the famous Roman Colosseum. It was these two that inspired me to get into martial arts. Chuck taught Bruce several high kick techniques, which we see Bruce use a LOT in his next film, 1973's Enter the Dragon. In Chuck's autobiography, he said that he and Bruce would often spar with protective gear, and that Bruce was untouchable. This was during a time when Chuck had won several world championships. He said Bruce was simply too fast with his strikes and dodges. But Chuck was also awesome and essentially unbeatable in his tournaments. I'm sure their spirits are sparring together again just like old times. RIP.

I rewatched the movie I love, “The Hidden” (1987), which I found on a streaming service. It’s great no matter how many times I watch it. The Japanese BD hasn’t been released in Japan, so I have the North American version, but watching it with subtitles again is something special. 🐌
