ICE should’t be allowed to act with impunity after shooting and killing a woman in Minneapolis. This rogue agency’s escalating presence brings more and more danger to our communities. Donald Trump and ICE must be reined in by Congress and the courts before more people get hurt.

Trump says "we're going to run Venezuela." In recent history, we've tried "running" multiple countries in Latin America and the Middle East. It's been a disaster for us, and for them, every single time. Congress must pass a War Powers resolution to get our military back to defending the U.S., instead of "running" Venezuela.

What better way to start another year of broken promises to struggling American families than launching an illegal war. Too weak to confront real security threats posed by powerful dictators, Trump predictably targets the weak instead. Now he’s set to spend billions in Venezuela—while accessing its oil—money that should be going toward the real needs of Americans.

Today, we remember the lives lost to bigotry and hate against our Transgender community. We reaffirm our commitment to true freedom, justice, and equality for all Texans - especially the most vulnerable among us.

To borrow from Mark Twain, the reports of my death, politically, are greatly exaggerated. A U.S. district court order means that I have a renewed opportunity to continue serving the only town I have ever called home, as democracy faces greater challenges than at any point in my lifetime. While this decision, led by a Trump-appointed judge, will be appealed, I am hopeful about the final outcome to stop this illegal, racial gerrymander.
