Lori and I are pained by the news of yet another act of political violence in our country — today, the horrific murder and shooting of elected officials and their loved ones in Minnesota. We are praying for the family of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and all of their loved ones who have suffered an immeasurable loss. We’re praying for the full recovery of Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette, and for their families, loved ones, and communities at home and in Saint Paul. I communicated with @GovTimWalz this morning to offer my prayers and support. To the people of Minnesota: Pennsylvania stands with you. I also spoke with State Senate President Pro Tem Ward and State House Speaker McClinton and offered my Administration’s support in the aftermath of these horrific shootings. Leaders across our country must speak and act with the moral clarity this moment demands. This is unacceptable — we all have a responsibility to stand up and work to defeat the political violence that is tearing through our country. America is better than this.

Today, America bore witness to yet another heinous act of antisemitism designed to terrorize a peaceful community. This type of hate filled violence has no place in our civilized society and must be universally condemned. There is no justification for setting people on fire as they exercised their right to free speech and peaceful assembly. I’ve been in communication with @GovofCO and @COAttnyGeneral and appreciate their moral clarity as they lead their state forward during this challenging moment. Lori and I pray for those injured in the attack and wish them a full and speedy recovery.
