i was bullish solana for most of 2023, while everybody said the chain was dead & never coming back, onchain trading volumes were essentially zero at the time eventually solana broke out in late 2023 & i started the soylana manlets telegram chat, everyone was calling sol bulls soy boys & manlets bc the coin was always so weak so we co-opted that, also said that bonk was going to do well as solana beta bc it was one of the only coins onchain to buy since other solana protocols hadnt dropped their tokens yet and it was a meme centered around the strongest sol communities, pepe had gone to ~3B earlier in the year, in that telegram chat people were trading all of the microcap coins, there was a microcap degenerates channel before pump fun even existed, & wif was one of the coins in this channel that everybody started posting about, i found it in the telegram at like 100k market cap & said it was a funny meme & that got screenshotted + shared everywhere, later i linked this girl in the city & she was asking me what i did & xyz, told her about sol & memecoins, & she didnt believe me so i posted her twitter account and said that id give a shoutout to whichever meme did the funniest edit on her pfp, & the wif guys did some edit of her pfp that i reacted to on the timeline, think that was around like 1M mcap, & then later that month during santacon i went live on twitter when we were all fucked up & was asking everybody what their favorite solana memecoins were, everybody said bonk but when i turned the cam to the girl she was like "dogwifhat" & that candled it to like 10M that night im p sure, this whole time all the wif guys were nonstop posting on X and editing their pfp to the dog, most of them still have it on rn, but anyway the next morning when i woke up i was like "i think i just found the next 100M memecoin cult" or something like that, & then ppl were asking which it was & confirmed it was wif lol after that we basically just nonstop posted about it for months until it eventually went to like 4b by end of the next Q1 & stayed over 1b for awhile, funny times, bloomberg and all the major news channels picked it up pretty early bc everyone just kept editing the dog with different hats on & saying "hat stays on", it wasnt just me tho it was an army of people on here that were nonstop posting it every day
