@CFLisFun @TSNDaveNaylor @NFL @CFL Guardian Caps failed to significantly improve helmet safety. Limited evidence indicates a reduction in GSI would provide clinically relevant benefits beyond reducing the risk of skull fracture or a similar catastrophic event. Proper fitting helmets do that already. Strap up.

@TSNDaveNaylor @NFL @CFL I think the guardian caps mandate should be position specific. The caps add weight along the radial axis further away from the head. Therefore increasing the risk of injury due to rotational force, such as neck injuries. This would be more prevalent in positions like LB, WR, CB.

I’m not a lawyer … but I think there is probably a strong legal component to the @NFL and @CFL allowing players to wear guardian caps in-game. If you have a measure that keeps players brains safer, but you force players to remove them for games, would there not be liability there? If you make it the players’ choice you’re probably okay. #CFL #NFL
