Budding Journalists: This is the center of @nytimes newsroom as of noon today, Election Day. If you're ever needing evidence of the significance of independent journalism in society, think of the essential work that so many have done up to now and will do in the coming days.

Thanks to all of the journalists out there in the field or in newsrooms this election week providing essential work at a time of unprecedented challenge and change. I see you and support you.

Budding Journalists: Success in this industry requires more perseverance and intention than ever. Newsrooms face many pressures. But don't let anyone ever tell you that journalism isn't needed in society. It's more needed now than ever.
