@sloppypope That’s not what happened. George H. W. Bush didn’t "encourage" Saddam Hussein to invade Kuwait. At most, there were miscommunicated diplomatic signals, not approval. Not at all. Once Iraq invaded, the U.S. led a massive coalition to reverse it and succeeded.

@primadonnatella Part of me thinks he has genuinely shifted right, but another part of me thinks he's just being a chameleon and wants to try to get the GOP nomination so he can try to restore some semblance of "normalcy" to his party.

what pisses me off btw is that marco rubio is still sane, but he would’ve been considered pretty damn right-winged back in the day for what he advocates for now. i always question how much is actually what he stands for, and how much he is trying to be the middle man—finding middle ground between MAGA extremism and his former centrist views. he never used to be this conservative socially-speaking especially.
