@michaelmiraflor I went through university only using a computer to look up which library books were in and where to find them. I rang people from a pay phone on the corridor. I got my first mobile phone when I started my first job aged 25.

Clearly dating myself but of the 20-ish people on my college freshman dorm floor, only 2 had a laptop, and only one of those laptops had a battery that could last a full 60 minute lecture. That’s in addition to the social awkwardness of even trying.

Our obsession with growth has led us to exaggerate advertising’s contribution to it.
Ads sometimes contribute to growth.
Sometimes help slow declines.
Mostly ‘just’ maintain sales.
Thinking ads are only about growth sets them up to fail and narrows their breadth and utility.
