EXC Burnham advisor says government should borrow more Jim O’Neill tells me as part of Manchesterism film: “I've tried to encourage this government to be bolder about. I think the second part of the fiscal rule on borrowing to invest I think that could be explored a lot more, and not in a way that freaks out the financial markets. “I don't think you'd necessarily have to rip up the fiscal rules. I think you just need to be bolder about borrowing to invest. A lot of people right now, given Britain's history for 30 years or more, think any kind of borrowing just means wasted money. But if you borrow for things that have really positive multiplier effects.”

In July 1985, over a billion people watched Live Aid. Months earlier, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie had written "We Are the World." All of it was a response to a famine in Ethiopia. Almost nobody remembers who actually caused the famine. 🧵

A quote for the ages

I honestly cannot begin to tell you how much I despise the UK. Small small £600k house you have to pay £50k stamp duty. That’s £110k minimum to move in including house deposit. 🏡

Incredible

Just to remind some folk that is nothing ‘timid’ about a Labour government lifting half a million kids out of poverty, the biggest uplift of workers rights in a generation, giving millions of people a pay rise, transforming the NHS, nationalising the steel industry & our railways

This is the new wording. Legislation drafted and proposed by someone who probably doesn't know how to turn on a tap, let alone a computer. And has no idea how the internet or a VPN works. I'd love to see their answer to the question "what's an .apk?"
