Do you struggle to get testimonials from clients? It might be because you’re asking “Responders” to initiate, and because that’s difficult for us, we put it off and you lose out. Try this instead… YOU write the first draft based on feedback they have previously given you and highlighting the specific result you sell. Then send it to them and say you’ve put this together based on information they’ve given you previously and ask if they’re happy for you to use it in your marketing. Now they’re RESPONDING and they’ll have the ideas and inspiration for tweaks they want to make. Or they will be happy for you to use what you’ve already written. Either way, you get your testimonial.

Copywriting Tips: How to Craft Compelling Headlines The ability to craft compelling headlines is a vital skill if your content is going to stand out from the noise and be read. If you don’t read tabloid newspapers, it’s worth spending a few minutes a couple of times a week scrolling through the website of one of the tabloids. Pay particular attention to the headlines that attract your attention, and note how they relate to the story they want you to read. I have a couple of ‘go-to’ strategies that I use to speed up this process for myself, that may be useful to you too: Number one is the quickest. It’s a Chrome/Firefox extension called Headlinr – a keyword based headline creator that costs $37. You type in your keyword/s, and Headlinr will show you a long list of high-converting headlines that you can swiftly swipe and edit. Number two is to manually map out your headline from the following five types of headlines: #1: Number headlines: xx [number of …] to [how] to [get result] “15 ways to eat chocolate and lose weight” “4 words you must tweet daily to get more warm leads from Twitter” #2: Reader action-taking headlines: The [pain] to achieve [result], or the [result] from [avoiding pain] “The daily habit every parent must learn to protect their child’s health” “The call-to-action you must include to sell high-ticket programs from your webinars” #3: How To headlines: How to [do what] to [achieve result] or [avoid pain] “How to eat chocolate every day and stay slim” “How to convert more Twitter followers into warm leads” #4: Informational headlines: (similar to ‘number’ and ‘how to’ headlines, but without appending the number or how to) “Eat chocolate and say slim.” “Surviving sunburn” #5: Question headlines: Using a question to trigger a desire to discover the answer “How can you eat more chocolate and lose weight?” “Which call-to-action converts more high-ticket webinar sales?” The first part of mapping out your headline manually is to define the benefits of your product/service or message – the ‘what’s in it for me?’ question running through your readers’ mind. Then take your list of benefits and pains and use one of these headline generators to get more eyeballs on your writing.

Why It’s Not Just Disney That Should Let It Go! Firstly, You know that thing that you worry about… that you really want to happen and you’re expending a ton of energy in trying to make it happen your way? top it. Set the intention and trust that if it’s meant to happen it will, but your stressing about it is more than likely pushing your desired outcome further away. Let it go! Secondly, You don’t have to compromise on any rules you’ve set for your business. If you’re like me and need rest, design your schedule to allow rest time, and don’t give that time away. You don’t need to, because if whatever it is that is prompting you to not put yourself first is meant to happen, it will – at a time that works for you. It might not be rest that you protect time for, it could be spending time with your kids or date night with your partner. If it was important enough for you to allocate time for it in the first place, it is important enough for you not to compromise on it. You’re worth it.

A REMINDER: Lurking in Facebook Groups is Costing You Money! When you are spending time in the groups where your ideal clients are, taking a minute to answer questions will increase your visibility to the people whose attention you want to attract. Plus, there is no algorithm in comments – everyone reading the post can see your reply. That’s my first tip for you – your daily Facebook activity should include replying to posts in groups so you increase your visibility and build expert authority. Spending 10 minutes commenting in the right groups can put you in front of several thousand people – any one of whom could be your next paying client. Don’t waste your time in Facebook groups if you are only going to lurk. Lurkers are invisible. But here’s the juicy part you might be missing… Any time someone asks a question in a Facebook group, you can guarantee that there are lots of others who have the same issue – inside and outside of the group. My second tip – respond to the question fully for the benefit of those who are reading the post. You are never responding to only one person online. Next, having written your full response in a comment, my third tip is that you should leverage that effort to reach even more of your ideal clients in Facebook and beyond. #1: Copy and paste your comment into Word #2: Edit your post briefly for readability #3: Add an intro to provide context #4: If you have one, you could share a quick story that relates back to the question. #5: Bolt on a call-to-action for the next step you want your readers to take. Voila. With a few minutes additional effort, you’ve got a post you can share on Facebook… and an email you can send to your email community. Plus, you can also add it as a blog post on your website which you can post on all your social media, and add to your content promo cycle. As you’ve probably guessed, this post started as a reply to a question in one of my groups. It’s the simplest way I know to create content. After all, there is no shortage of inspiration in Facebook! Always be asking yourself, “how can I get the max return on this ‘effort’?” While you’re focusing on serving the one person you’re replying to, you should simultaneously be aiming to serve the many, from mostly the same effort.

Stop Thinking About Social Media Marketing! I had been talking to one of my clients and we were discussing her goals and objectives for marketing on social media… and in particular, why she felt somewhat ‘stuck’ and unable to get any traction on her campaign. She had joined my mastermind program having recognised the importance of social media marketing and having made the decision that she wanted to learn how to market her business properly. In the past 4 months, she had watched the training videos inside my program, attended a good number of our group calls and had made some good progress… but it wasn’t as much progress as it could have been. As a mentor, this is also frustrating for me. I watch many of my clients go off and achieve amazing results for their business. But then I see others who have access to the same content and my time, yet struggle to get very far at all. So what is stopping them? Well, of course the real reason wasn’t the reason they gave me… lack of time. That’s was just an excuse if you like, covering up something that runs much deeper. The real reason was that she was over-thinking everything. Over-thinking is deadly… you spend so long thinking and analysing that you never get anything started. And I’m sure you’ve heard the mantra, “doing something badly is better than doing nothing well.” Plus, you’re very likely to be wrong in your thinking. How do YOU know what your audience want? How can YOU be 100% sure that the reason people won’t be interested in you or buy from you is because your website isn’t quite perfect yet, or you don’t have enough posts on your blog, or whatever else you’re telling yourself is more important than meeting new people on social media? If you are spending all your time in your business, or doing work on your business that you think is vital, what would happen if you did all that work and then nobody visited your website or read your blog posts? If you knew that to be a certainty, would it still be a vital job that you had to prioritise in front of spending some time on social media? Now, I don’t want to be a scare-monger, but if you aren’t actively marketing and engaging on social media, there is a very real danger of that happening. You can’t expect people to suddenly wake up tomorrow and realise you are the person they must take notice of when they don’t know who you are today. Relationships have to be built, and that’s not an overnight process. When was the last time you attended an offline event, and as you walked into the room, you were approached by a stranger who immediately placed an order with you? It doesn’t happen, does it? So, I urge you to take a step back from your daily overwhelm, and look at every task you are doing during your day. Is every task taking you one step nearer to your financial goals? Can you really not afford to spend 15-30 minutes a day (spread across the day) building relationships on social media… even if it meant you wouldn’t have any customers in 3 months time? Lots of business owners regularly attend networking events but I’ve worked out that to attend the average 2 hour breakfast networking meeting will take you away from your desk for approximately 4.5 hours each time. 3 hours for the meeting (you usually arrive before the start of the meeting for coffee and networking, and never leave immediately at the end), 30 minutes travel each way and 30 minutes to send follow up emails to the people you met. In those 4.5 hours, you’ve shared a room with, say 25 people… and spoken properly to maybe 5 or 6. In the same 4.5 hour timeframe, you could write 90 tweets (allowing 3 minutes per tweet) which could be 10 tweets with 9 people or 9 tweets with 10 people or 90 tweets with 90 people… you get the idea? No membership fees, no early alarm calls, no travel costs, no ‘networking outfit’ to choose (or maybe that’s just me?!) but you potentially triple your audience reach. I know people who attend 4 networking events every week too… you do the maths! So, why not pledge to change your habits next month? Stop worrying and analysing what people “might” want and commit to taking action with my “Social Media Prospector Express Goldminer” strategy. Weekly – 30 minutes: Fire up your blog and pick out 5 of your blog posts – write a short description and add the link. Collate these 5 posts in a Word document and check that each post is no longer than 120 characters. You could also link to articles you’ve found online or pages on your website. Don’t think too hard about your choices; just choose 5 messages to post. Using your scheduling tools, schedule each of these 5 messages to be posted over the next 5 days at varying times. You might also choose to post to Linked in and Google+ at the same time. Just select where you want your post to appear (but not Facebook!) Posting on Facebook via 3rd party apps reduce the numbers who can see your posts… so I recommend you use Facebook’s own scheduler which isn’t penalised. Now go to your Facebook page, and in the bottom left hand corner of where you post your status updates, you will see a little clock icon. Copy and paste one post at a time into the box, and using the clock, select the year, month, day, hour and minute you want your post to appear on your page. These are the only promotion/broadcast messages you will post this week. Daily – 15-30 minutes spread over the day: Log into each account where your broadcast messages appeared and check to see if you have received any replies, comments, messages etc. Reply to any you have received. In X or Threads, do a search for a relevant key phrase that will identify their users as being in your target audience. E.g. “their engagement” to find newly engaged couples, and engage with any tweets you find in the searches – don’t forget you can’t sell here… you’re putting their needs first. In Facebook, while using Facebook as your page; look for other pages where your targeted prospects might be connecting. Like them as your page and comment on their posts where appropriate – whenever you comment, your page name will appear so your reach is growing (don’t write on their wall promoting yourself though – that’s considered as spam unless you’ve been invited!) If you click on the “Home” button top right of the page, you will see a news feed of all the pages your page has liked… even quicker to scan down and decide which posts you can engage with! That’s it. It’s a very basic strategy, but it is designed for business owners who believe they don’t have the time to use social media, and it’s simple so it’s easy to implement and manage consistently. It’s better than doing nothing, and by being an “Express Goldminer” you are more likely to grow your audience… and ultimately your customer base than if you did nothing too. Which would you prefer?

A member criticised their gym because guests need to fill out a form and provide a photo to get a day pass. The response… “We and many other gym operators and members have been robbed by day pass guests so we will continue safeguarding our employees and members and put them first” Technically, that’s an accurate explanation. Somatically, it misses the mark. How I’d rewrite using Somatic Copy™:.. “To keep everyone safe, we also ask guests to register on arrival to receive their pass.” The policy hasn’t changed. The complainer’s guest will still be inconvenienced. Somatically, the message will be interpreted differently. The original FEELS like the company is… Enforcing the policy because of the robberies rather than a proactive responsibility to protect people. Pointing blame at day pass guests for those robberies. Creating division - they need to protect employees and members from guests The somatic version FEELS like the company is… Protective of all - their staff, visitors, guests and members Compassionate and caring about people Communicating (without saying) that they’re also safeguarding you from other types of crime that gym-goers can be vulnerable to In this specific example, NOT using Somatic Copy™ wouldn’t necessarily create a negative response or even be noticed by many. USING Somatic Copy™ would… ✅ Draw more potential clients in ✅ Build trust - including with the people silently observing the exchange ✅ Position the brand positively Most of this is happening unconsciously - your body registers a meaning before your mind processes the words. The rewrite leaves readers - including the person who complained - feeling satisfied with the reason why the policy and requirement still stand. Businesses can’t control what meaning each person’s body will interpret. They CAN write their comms in a way that will create a somatically positive meaning for most readers’ nervous system though. That’s Somatic Copy™.
