@SBean_Jr Ah, thanks. I get it now. I like your scheme too btw. Didn’t think the gold would work so well with them, and the small additions of color are nice.
Colored metallics are a cool field though, and I’m thinking of playing around with em in the future.

@VeryFastTrash That is actually the older heresy scheme, but it is very hard to pull off effectively. So newer art has them use a shiny black and silver.
Mine also have the white bolters of 40k cause it adds some color.

I still prefer to paint mine like 30k even when I am painting 40k hands.
Blue, silver, and black with bits of white and red just looks good.
It also bugs me how gw also screws up the scheme on their own models, not giving them metal hands for instance.

As a newcommer (so correct me if I got anything wrong) the only legion that seems to take an aesthetic nosedive from 30k to 40k are the Iron hands. The blue lenses and silver trim over black looks so much better, Id paint primaris like this, codex be damned.

@DojoeWarhammer 100? Dang, are you making 100 straight tac marines or are you mixing up the units a bit? Also, would highly recommend grabbing different kits like the legionary kit, raiders, mk3 and mixing parts to avoid being repetitive. For basing 100 guys fast I would recommend sand and pva

@DojoeWarhammer It’s called underpainting. Only slop tubers call it slapchop. In your case, I would make sure to over brush on the armor panels, so they can build a solid metallic layer, to prevent the paint on downward facing surfaces like on the legs from being grainy and not showing the color

Now this, this is a worthy plastic update. The thinner spears fit the lighter armored look of the venatarii and you can make dual welding revolver men. Hope the Aquillons slap this hard
