FUN FACT ~ You JK Rowling writes fiction books. I developed the world first policy for trans inmates 25 years and it’s still world’s best practice. JK Rowling doesn’t have a clue what she is talking about. I managed every female prison in NSW as the A/Regional Superintendent and trans women were the least threat to the safety of the prison. I have managed 5 Prisons and they are actually 1000 times easier to manage risk than it is in the greater community. Every prison has protection, strict protection, & one out segregation units, they have cameras, walls, bars, duress alarms. C_s women inmates rape other female inmates with bottles and hairbrushes and fists and fingers. One female inmate in Australia, fatally stabbed her fellow female cellmate 33 times. She needed leg irons, handcuffs, a spit hood &a posse of guards to move her. Female inmates are three and a half times more likely to sexually assault another female inmate than male inmates are in male prisons. Narratives such as @jk_rowling around issues such as trans people in prisons, takes a valid issue – the safety of inmates while incarcerated against abuse & sexual assault & target transindividuals (almost always trans women) & the ‘radical trans lobby’ as the perpetrators & enablers of this violence. In reality, prison administrators are responsible for the safety of prisoners, and trans activists do not have the level of ‘disproportionate power’ and ‘little accountability’ that @jk_rowling ascribes to them. It is true that a significant issue in the prison space is the presence of violent offenders who may assault other inmates. Narratives which cast (sis) female prisoners only as potential victims & male prisoners (incorrectly including trans women) as potential perpetrators simplify the dynamics of interpersonal violence to the detriment of all: this narrative ignores (or even tacitly condones) interpersonal violence within male prison spaces, where trans women are disproportionately at risk; it overlooks sexual violence in women’s prisons between sis-women prisoners; & it fails to hold the prison system accountable for building systems & environments which prioritise the safety of prisoners. Instead, trans women who have committed violent sexual offences are positioned by @jk_rowling as not only a threat based on their own actions, but as an innate threat from their entire group, and used as justification to deny all trans people the validity of their genders. to deny all trans people the validity of their genders. scientificamerican.com/article/sexual…

Polite notice to those urging me to show blind tribal allegiance to a party that's screwed over female nurses who want to change in a female-only space, female prisoners housed with male sex offenders and female rape survivors who want an all-female support service: nope.

a country that doesn’t punish this kind of behavior must be punished itself- weapons embargo and bds are the floor btw. meanwhile in the western world, the only people who get punished are those who call this evil out.

Horrific: Video shows an Israeli settler deliberately blocking the path of a Palestinian ambulance on a road in southern Nablus in the West Bank while it was transporting a critically ill person.

Labour sources telling me that backbenchers hope to force Starmer to surrender by cutting off water and power to Number 10. I asked if that was legal and they texted back “I think the PLP does have that right, it’s an ongoing situation”

@steamedhamms @NoJusticeMTG Starmer and his like believe they are representative not accountable. In that ‘they know best’, ‘leave the government to us’. Their constituency is big business, oligarchs, corporations. Public are the grey herd that you read a story too, patronisingly.

Tried watching a BBC doc on Russia. Already in the first mins: "Russia arrests journalists and threatens them with decades in prison!" As opposed to what? Me being threatened w/ 14 years in the UK, or 10 years in Austria for my reporting? Hypocrisy at its peak.

People who say “Starmer hasn’t been bold enough..” may want to stop and think first. He boldly: - Cut Winter Fuel Allowances - Raised tuition fees - Cut Benefits to the Disabled - Backed a Genocide - Banned Jury trials - Rejected renationalising Water - Adopted Thatcherism

Saying "anti-Zionism is anti-semitism" is just saying you want more anti-semitism. Insisting that everyone erase the distinction between people who happen to be Jewish and people who support a genocidal apartheid state is saying you want more people to hate Jews. The harder you make it for everyone to hold that distinction, the less that distinction is going to be made. If you insist that everyone needs to choose between hating Jews and supporting genocide, a lot of people are going to choose to hate Jews. It's not a choice that actually needs to be made, but a lot of Zionists are insisting that everyone has to choose. Anyone who says anti-Zionism is a hate movement is a lying, manipulative hatemonger. Making a distinction between Judaism and Zionism is a good faith effort to REDUCE hate. Everyone who insists on erasing all distinctions between the two is working to increase hatred of Jews.

Here's the DIRTY SECRET of the British Establishment. They are OK with the idea of a racist, authoritarian Farage govt. They are TERRIFIED at the idea of a Polanski govt which would threaten their power & privilege and make them pay their fair share of tax.

There is no denying that these election results are going to be very bad for Labour. Yes, Keir Starmer is very unpopular. But it is the policies that drive that unpopularity. Simply changing the leader without changing the policies will not avert disaster in 2029.

The hardest thing to understand about Keir Starmer refusing to resign is just “why” — he doesn’t have a vision, he isn’t committed to anything, he’s a completely empty, brittle, wooden man. What is he motivated by? Why does he want this? Is it just feeling big and important?

I should be a core Labour voter. I care about inequality, public services, workers’ rights, and human rights. Instead, for 3 years, they treated millions disgusted by the slaughter in Gaza as racists and did nothing to address wealth inequality. Tonight: consequences.

One of my most popular articles ever included a long extract from a powerful closing speech by barrister Rajiv Menon during a Palestine Action trial in January. In the end, the jury refused to convict the six defendants. Menon is now on trial for that closing speech – for reminding the jury that they had a 350-year-old right in law to follow their conscience in reaching a verdict, even if it meant defying a direction from the judge to convict. Paradoxically, Menon joked in his speech that, because of that earlier legal principle, the judge, unlike his counterpart in 1670, could not lock them, the jurors, up were they to choose to follow their consciences. Instead, the judge is seeking to lock up the barrister. Does 2026 qualify as an improvement on 1670? It is believed that this is the first time a barrister has been tried for comments made to a jury in his closing speech. That should serve as a potent reminder of just us how authoritarian the current political moment is, and of how quickly long-established legal rights are being dismantled to protect British collusion in genocide. Read my article – and the part of the speech for which Menon is being tried – here: jonathan-cook.net/blog/2026-01-1…
