查看全文:ourl.co/112470?x

Microsoft is putting together a new team to focus on building 100% native apps for Windows 11. And honestly, it’s long overdue. The real problem with Windows 11 isn’t ads, but the shift from native apps to web apps. The rushed adoption of web over native frameworks has hurt Windows 11. From WhatsApp to Weather to the pre-installed video editor, everything is a web app running inside Edge or a Chromium container. Open Task Manager and search for WebView -- you’re going to find many apps are web-based, including Outlook. And this doesn’t even include the Electron apps in Windows 11.

Microsoft: Bring back annual Windows event My colleague @zacbowden makes a strong case here: Microsoft needs to bring back a real annual Windows event and stop acting like the platform is something to tiptoe around. As he put it, Windows shouldn’t feel like a “side quest” next to AI; it’s the product hundreds of millions rely on every day, and it deserves a proper spotlight again. Doing so drives a clear message of purpose. The argument is simple: when Microsoft treats Windows like an afterthought, the ecosystem feels it. A dedicated yearly event would rebuild confidence, set expectations, and show the company isn’t ashamed of its own OS. I’m fully aligned with this take, as Windows needs to stand tall again, especially after the last 18 months. (1/2)

A prove of concept... Only one small problem... WinUI 3 does not seem to support gamepads... I really don't want to go back to WinRT XAML (I have adaptive cards in plan)

This is why I choose WinUI 3, so that I can just borrow Dev Home's Widget Host ;).

Fun fact: It's been 225 days since Apple has last updated its iWork apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote). At this rate, we are going to get GTA 6 before a Liquid Glass version of these apps.
